The borough uses an interweaving pattern of town centres, employment areas, industrial estates, freestanding retail centres such as westway Cross and other community facilities including the Ealing Hospital.
According to the Association of Public Health Observatories (2006), in cooperation with the Department of Health and National Health Services, Ealing's wards is one of the least deprived in England where six are the most deprived. 59% of its population is from the White ethnic group, 25% from the Asian ethnic group and 9% from the Black ethnic group. Its GCSE achievement is higher, and teenage pregnancy is lower, with a higher level of violent crimes as compared to London's average. Support is given to many more Ealing's older people at home than the national average. Estimates also suggest that binge drinking and obesity are less common and healthy eating is more common. Death arte from heart disease and stroke is high. The APHO (2006) added there is lower death rate from cancers. Road injuries and deaths are high which is identical with other London boroughs. There are more people with diabetes while children's tooth decay is common.
