CDC has been in existence for a long time. The agency was established in 1946 (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Initially, it was known as the Communicable Disease Centre. Its headquarter is in Atlanta. Thomas Frieden currently heads the agency (CDC 2014). CDC carries out various roles. First, CDC plays a significant role in the mobilization of resources in cases of emergencies that act as a threat to public health (CDC 2014). Secondly, the agency is involved in monitoring for real or potential health security threats.

The agency also promotes health education in the country especially on chronic and emerging diseases. Additionally, the agency helps in controlling the spread of infectious diseases (CDC 2014). There are agencies that can be combined. The union will help in the delivery of services and adequate provision of quality healthy. Two agencies can easily be brought together. The agencies include the National Institute of Health (NIH) and CDC. The link will help in ensuring that researchers from NIH offer immediate support to CDC in ensuring there are prevention and control of diseases.
