I did not know how to use the online database properly. In chapter 3 we learnt how to use different databases and how to master the art of different styles of referencing. We were also taught about planning research and got to know how about deciding the research to be qualitative or quantitative. The basic format of research was also given to us.I found research really interesting and engaging, especially the survey techniques and questionnaire development. I also learnt how to do face to face interviews and telephonic interviews for this process.

I also observed the difference between qualitative and quantitative research. Quantitative research is more about numeric data and results, qualitative data can be measured for example height, weight, percentage, area, width etc. Statistics was involved in quantitative studies and it also made me aware of the usefulness of SPSS. Whereas qualitative data deals with descriptions, it is mostly text-based unlike quantitative. We can observe qualitative data but cannot measure it. For example, colour, taste, beauty, etc.

No statistical tests are required for qualitative research and hence it is less generalizable. In a nutshell, this course has given me the confidence to conduct any kind of research and hopefully, I will use it with full command in future.
