Your full February 16, Reflection Paper Q b) Q.2. According to Volf, a referent is the object while the designation is only the term used to address it. It is important to understand whether both Muslims and Christians use the same word while referring to the referent, or use different words. Q.3. Volf asserts that the concept of “sufficient similarity” makes us understand that since the beliefs of the Christians and the Muslims about God are same, and the acts of worship are similar, hence there is sufficient similarity in the referents of both, which implies that they have the same God. Q.4.

Muslims and Christians agree on: (1) There is one and only one God.(2) God is the creator of the universe.(3) God has qualities that are superior. (4) God is good, and hence has created everything on good pattern. (5) God requires us to love and worship Him by all our heart. (6) God requires us to love each other as well. Q.5. Volf claims that both Muslims and Christians believe in their normative traditions that God is just and loving, and is not a Holy Trinity. The normative traditions of both religions signify the same fact, that there is only one God.

Each religion designates different terms to refer to Him, but the referent is the same in the normative traditions of each religion. Q.6. Claim 6 that God commands us to love our neighbors and all other people around us, stood out to me. This shows how merciful God is, that he wants us to not only love Him but also love the whole of His creation. Since man is the best of His creations, he wants us to love man, which indirectly signifies our love for Him. Works CitedVolf, Miroslav. Allah: A Christian Response.
