?Book Review Introduction Allender’s book, “The Healing Path: How the Hurts in Your Past Can Lead You to a More Abundant Life” stresses on the influences of the pain that people often experience throughout their lifestyle. Allender explains that there is always difficulty in an individual’s life, but the means we often use to adjust to these challenges define the person we choose to depict. He explains that the pain experienced by humanity is inevitable, and individuals would have to be exposed to it in some form during their life. The pillars that contribute to a healthy living lifestyle are the events that hurt people and there are scars proving their contribution towards life’s challenges. The obvious question individuals are often faced with is their ability to cope with the experiences that give them the wounds that sometimes scar them through their entire life. The challenge often arises from the individual’s ability to find solutions to gathering enough strength to counter the adverse effects of the wounds. The mostly applied solution is to ignore the impacts of the wounds and assume a better life would be the eventual implication. The most indicated principle brought by the pain is unfulfilling life. Allender encourages people in society to have a positive reaction towards the wounds that the challenges faced implicate on the healthy life. There are numerous means to deal with the most frightening experiences and turn the negativity into a more productive entity. Failure to adjust appropriately to these challenging life experiences, a more painful and negative living would b the result. Individuals may lean towards an unhealthy living that contributes to vices that are against the society’s indication. Healing is the key entity that Allender stresses on, and suggests that if the appropriate measures are implemented to promote the healing process, the beginning of a new life that is filled with better experiences result from the painful memories. A new individual is born amidst the crumbles and destructive conditions the society mostly exposes upon them. Healing applies our experiences that we have met and the challenges into a modern societal setting where individuals are drawn closer to the spiritual fulfilment provide by God. It does not entail eliminating the awful experiences and building better memories because hurt is a term that continues to emanate daily as experiences pile up into our programs. Healing incorporates overall life challenges whether lovely or painful and prepares individuals for the future experiences they would meet. The desire of societal members to find the perfect solution to the implications of hurt drives them towards the spiritual relationships. We are driven closer to God because He would give us a sense of security and fulfilment of the soul as a new spiritual environment is bred within us. The book provides hope to the disappointed and hurt individuals in the society who fail to believe in the healing process that may be encountered after long struggles with life hurts. Allender stresses that God would be the ultimate healer because His teachings imply faith and love as Christians are taught the virtue of having patients knowing He could intervene to help the impending situation. Allender tells that God has the ability to deliver us from the pain and give lifelong solutions towards embracing these incidents helping us to build a stronger relationship with other individuals in the society. Life is continuously dominated by disappointments and discouraging entities towards the achievement of individual goals. There is never a moment in the life setting that the plans made by individuals would effectively dominate goal achievement. Challenges arise from the ambition set by societal members that lean towards healthy living and achievement of a better lifestyle. Through the faith people in society place in God, minor setbacks can be handled better prompting effective lifelong goals and happiness acquisition. God wants us to be stronger in the environment and enjoy the virtues that life often accumulates especially when humankind lives according to His principles. Through embracing the principles and acknowledging the importance of finding resolve in God, a new faith is bred that builds a better society. A look into the past challenges and solving the consequences of the hurt, better resolve and desire to handle future challenges arises. The belief that God is in control of individual’s livelihood, and that He seeks to provide redemption in times of misery is evidence that there lies a hope amidst internal chaos and doubts. Allender further states that individuals possess different opinions on the pain and endurance entity. God’s view of these definitions, which drive humanity to misery, is variable. According to Him, there are various solutions to embrace the pain subjected to humankind, but when individuals hold adverse belief and faith in His name, there will be a definite redemption as the result. Individuals rarely anticipate the harm that may be subjected towards their living. Allender insists that humanity must learn to embrace the painful experiences from a religious view holding trust and faith in God. Humanity is filled with despair and evil. People often fail to live by God’s code and break various rules that he warns against practicing. It is difficult for most people to live by the code that offers redemption in their life. The world is full of evil and God offers redemption to humanity through trust people offers Him. Allender implies that the world is filled with temptations and disappointment because people often live to find the entity that would physically fulfil their desire forgetting the spiritual fulfilment required to heal the wounded soul. The major process to gain the attachment to redemption is through embracing God’s teachings and possessing the belief that lies in spiritual healing. The past should be incorporated in the determination of our future events, and it is through these experiences that a new confidence is built to better adjust to more challenges of the future. Allender suggests that the path to misery holds difficult challenges and creates a demeaning ambiance in an individual’s life especially during achievement of success. Humanity, according to him must embrace suffering and include the entity as a measure of growth towards success. Mostly after suffering, there lies a form of victory especially when the individual embraces recovery methods finding resolution in God. Jesus himself embraced the pain that was imposed upon him because there was a belief that it would serve a greater purpose. During pain, individuals often fail to see the future resolve and the implication that the experience would generate in their lives. Christ had been subjected to lasting pain at the time of His trial but had held on the belief that His suffering would bring redemption to the world. The common sentiment shared by humanity is that pain ought to be relieved, and there arises a problem if this provision is not met. Allender explains that from finding means to embrace the pain faced, there would be a greater fete in adjusting to future challenges. The message learnt lies in God’s plan to let suffering impair humanity’s progress because of a greater plan he has established for the entire population. An individual’s attempt to resist the suffering as God wishes them to endure would result in even graver consequences because the lessons he has set for them to face would be avoided. The idea is to embrace the pain to adjust to future difficulties that would have similar effects to the problem faced currently. In my life, there have been challenges faced from my childhood to present. Conditions subjected to my developments that have prompted me to have a different view of life. When growing up, especially in adolescence, numerous emotional and physical adjustments have contributed negatively to my social life. Most of the adolescent have temper issues and refer to promote violence in retaliation to certain pressures faced by them in the society. On reading Allender’s works, I have since reflected on the challenges I had experienced a few years ago to improve on my overall development. The book stresses that with the reference of experiences and accepting the challenges met, there would be a better experience in dealing with future challenges. The book is helpful to many doubtful societal individuals who undergo numerous challenges during particular developmental stages and points towards reliance in God. He dominates most of the challenges faced and provides a lasting solution that is part of His plan. Allender tries to create a solution to the problems most commonly arising from various challenging situations that individual’s experience especially on their quest to achieve growth. There is a tendency to alienate the grave encounters that people face when faced with major crises. In most cases, an individual would suppress the hurt and find other forms of destruction that face the situation and bear the pain. The book suggests that in these instances, it is vital to endure through the circumstances and cope with the challenges arising because a greater result is the outcome. Allender keenly dwells around the desire to possess patience and hope. He speaks of a better solution and a greater power that is in control of the individual’s life. Christ’s love is greater than the challenges that we might be subjected to and when all hope may be lost, love forgotten, He stands to help u bear this pain. There is no greater resolve, according to Allender, that is greater than God’s will. He lets individuals face the challenges as a means towards achieving greatness. Allender promises a better life when an individual possesses hope and belief that the experiences are part of the development process. The past must be embraced and perseverance acquired as a development attribute. In the book, Allender stresses on the need for individuals to embrace the healing aspect and engaging in reconciling with the events that had haunted them in the past. This according to Allender would be the only means to heal completely the hurts that people are subjected to. He insists on the value of appreciating life and learning to live with the past cases that hurt the individuals limiting overall growth. Allender speaks on the need to appreciate the stories that contribute to the growth disregarding their awful nature. There must be a tendency to involve the participation of the others into individual’s life. With this desire, a stronger bond is built within the society that leads to several success stories. The healing process according to Allender contributes to the development of serious doubts where people often possess doubts over the steps needed to heal. In the book, the value of companionship and reliance on others to intervene in these grave situations is highlighted. When love is lost and doubts brew within an individual’s mind, Allender states a new hope that is created to offer resolve. This breeds a system that lead to emergence of a community of sojourners as Allender states. Individuals grow towards creating a firm confidence in the scriptures and its contribution to resolve the pain. There is never full resolve until a clear understanding of the harm is realized and its setbacks handled. The book is useful in situation where one seizes to see a solution to an impending problem that may be considered a burden at the current state. With love and hope as guidance and a belief in the Almighty as the provider and giver of hope, there is a sustained peace achieved that would help us bear the burden. Allender encourages us to be strong in times of grief and take the experience as a challenge towards achievement of a lasting solution. The book further applies its usefulness in creating a society full of determination and love. There is a tendency to help each other and encourage the loved ones to share experiences that may emotionally harm the body and a solution is created. There is a sense of hope that Allender further instils on the reader as he seeks to explain that there is no perfect person. Throughout the book, he reminds us that God is the ultimate creator who determines the destiny of humankind therefore making everyone equal before Him. He desires to create a better life for us and the challenges that we sometimes faced with may be His doing. The major lesson gotten from this statement is that there is no form of immunity towards hurt and that individuals no matter the race of social rank are vulnerable to the environmental harm. The book strongly supports the essence of human equality and the superiority of God. Allender communicates the importance of engaging the individuals around us in the daily routine and choose to socialize rather than perform duties singularly. It is through interactions that we learn to compete with individuals healthily promoting love and understanding their doings. He explains that we may not hold any remote to adjust people’s characters therefore possess limited control over their actions. Mostly humanity’s actions emanates from their backgrounds and their means to choose the mode of adjusting to societal implications. Allender reminds us that we may not have the capability to control individuals hence the vulnerability that we may continue to experience the pain repeatedly. God is the ultimate planner and once a belief is developed in Him, the security hat we may always achieve success in the future is undeniably developed. Conclusion The book generally seeks to provide hope and faith where doubt clouds judgement. The lack of a spiritual guidance and ability to anticipate future occurrences dent humanity’s quest for absolute truth. Allender explains that there is nobody who may escape the pain in life but there may be separate measures taken to solve the lifelong troubles. The means use by individuals to cope with life challenges and pain would shape their overall behaviour in dealing with future challenges. God is the ultimate provide in all challenges and once we embrace His presence in the daily setting, adjust the means we use to conduct the daily activities, better resolve is achieved. The main message Allender preaches is endurance that emanates from hope. Through consideration of the events in the past as steps towards development, greater results in the future are the possible outcome. Individuals fail to see beyond the misery by blaming others or their upbringing and this according to Allender impairs development. Every individual is vulnerable to hurt and it is mainly through embracing the past, believing in the work of the Almighty that a lasting solution to these pains deduced. Read More
