Biomedical therapies Biomedical therapies are interventions whose main focus is to reduce major symptoms which are associated mainlyby the psychological disorder. Different drugs are used to bring back the body back into norm after a certain psychological mental disorder (Sue at al 2012).One of such drug is antianxiety whose main aim is to calm and reduce body anxiety. They bring muscle relaxation which might be the cause of extreme anxiety. Despite being used to reduce anxiety, they do not have an effect in reducing hallucination.

Some of the antianxiety used have a tranquilizing effect which mainly reduce the patient’s interest on activities around them and reduce tremendously the psychotic symptoms. Such a drug is benzodiazepins. This drug increase individual feel of relaxation and a person reduce mental burden that may cause its breakdown.Antidepressants help patients feel less depressed. There are three types of medications i.e. monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricylics, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

The frequently used drug is tricyclist which relieves depression (Sue at al 2012).Antipsychotics are drugs that are powerful in treating schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Some of the first antipsychotics drugs are phenothiazines. These drugs helped in controlling flagrant symptoms of disorders such as hallucinations and delusions. Currently this drug has been replaced by more effective drug such as they have fewer side effects eg dozapine Nevertheless, these drugs have some side effects such weight gains (Sue at al 2012).

Patients that have these drugs have reported to have felt better and the symptoms reduced with the whole functioning of the individual improving. This reduces mental stress that may be caused by depression.ReferenceSue D, Sue D. W, Sue S. & Sue D. M. (2012). Understanding Abnormal Behavior. Cengage Learning.
