The paper "PThe Causes of Immigration" is a great example of a research paper on politics. The main purpose of this paper is to inform the audience on the definition of immigration, its causes and the causes of conflict in immigration. Immigration is the movement of people from one country, region or locality into another region in which they are not natives but end up settling there (Sharma 130). Immigration is, therefore, the act of entering and settling into a different region or country into which one is not a native.

A decision made by a person to migrate from one region to another is usually triggered by several factors. Immigration has become a global issue, and this is because borders have been opened up which has eased the movement of goods and people.Research There are several factors which cause immigration, and they include social factors, political factors and economic factors. The root causes of immigration can be categorized into push factors and pull factors. Push factors Push factors usually drive people from the affected country.

People in underdeveloped countries suffer from the economic crisis which leads to low wages, unemployment and high poverty levels and this pushes people into migration as they search for money and work. In the world today, close to 550 million working people live below $1 a day (Sharma 130). The promise of employment opportunities in other countries make people move. A good example is the Latin America with so many immigrants working in the United States. These immigrants sent home over $45 billion which is close to 10% of their earning.

Other factors like political and economic instability in underdeveloped countries make people move to other better regions. Pull factors These factors are due to the demand and supply of labor and draw people into looking for better lives. For example, labor forces are large in the southern hemisphere though it is couples with limited capital and demand while the northern hemisphere has limited labor and high capital and demand. As a result, people will attract into working in the southern hemisphere.

Other pull factors include job opportunities, high living standards and education, welfare and free health care. Explore conflicts and stereotypes Immigrants hold various stereotypes and view on the reasons behind their movement, and they include high unemployment levels, high crime levels, low quality education and political instabilities. There have been conflicts on immigration which arise from social change and labor needs. External factors Change in a society and the reaction to these changes to the immigrants cause conflicts.

Immigration is an agent of change as it disturbs the status quo of the immigrant (Behara 110). For example, Carolina in US experienced the highest number of Hispanic immigrants between July 2007 and 2008 which was between 7.4-7.7%. This resulted into hostility against the immigrants. Conflict usually happens due to the lack of understanding between the natives and the immigrants (Brown 319). Economics Sometimes, the natives may not regard the immigrants as equal human beings and term them as having low education levels.

This usually leads to poor economic conditions which can wedge conflict between them hence breeding resentment. For example, after the Partition, most of the Muslims in Mumbai did not go to Pakistan as were a working-class through not economically capable. This resulted in high competition with the Hindus for the available jobs. During the harsh times, competition for self-sustenance increased, and the immigrants were labelled by natives as being a burden which then caused conflicts. Lack of understanding between the natives and the immigrants may cause economic instability as the incentive for resentment between the two groups to act as a catalyst for a full-blown conflict (Brown 319).

Conclusion and revise the definition From this report, the audiences have learnt on the different cause of immigration, the immigrant’s stereotypes and the conflicts associated with immigration. It is quite evident that though people may move from one region to another in search of a good life, each of their movement choices may have consequences as it may lead to conflicts. Immigration may take place peacefully but end up causing conflicts which may be due to lack of understanding between the natives and the immigrants.

That is, immigration can either unites the world or even divide it, and all these arise from the demand and scrabble for labour and for social acceptance (Cope, Castles and Kalantzis 50). As a result, the original definition of immigration should change to the movement of people from one country, region or locality into another region in which they are not natives but end up settling there a situation which may cause conflict between the two groups; the natives and the immigrants.
