The author exhibits some deep emotions of passion through the use of characterization. This is expressed through the urge of vengeance and love. This is shown in the play when Medea and the nurse are conversing and Medea tells the nurse that she wish that she could see her husband Jason and his new bride down on the ground. When they get out of the royal place, the nurse talks about the events that resulted in the current crisis. After many series of adventure and trials that made Medea and Jason to go into exile in Corinth’s, they both settle down and tries to develop their family by achieving some degree of respectability and fame.

Medea is crushed emotionally after his husband abandons her to the extent that she start cursing why she was alive and also the lives of her own two children. Creon departs both Medea and her two children back to their city, as he feared that Medea would plot some revenge against her husband. Medea goes and pleads with mercy to add her some few days in the city and she is allowed to be in the city for one more day. This gives her best opportunity to quench her thirst for justice. She thinks about killing Jason, Creon, and Glauce.
