Retirement Age Retirement Age Introduction People should not be forced to retire just because they have attained age 65. To my view generally, a person should work for as long are they are able to and willing. This is due to the fact that people wear out as they get older. People therefore should not be forced to retire since it is clear that people no longer comfortably enjoy their social security. Generally people do work to cope with the ever rising cost of living come. The cost of living has increased at an incredible rate, but the wage rates have not increased accordingly. Due to this people have failed to save money for their retirement and they need employment to cope with their expenses. Body A person should work for as long as he or she is able to even upto 80 years. However those that have hard times straining to work with ailment until they are 65 get older, they tend to get older and worn out, this strain often reduces their life expectancy. Thus forcing people to retire at age 65 is not of any benefit as age limit this do not mind about the welfare of the or rather the preference of the worker. Every professional should be entitled to work to meet his or her demands that are diverse in nature. Different people work for differ reasons. For instance, there are those who work to save, others work for passion while others work to earn a living. Basin on these reasons, people should be considered to work before or after age 65 depending on the realization of either of these or all of them (Burtless, 2000, p.4). To my view and opinion, people should be allowed to have a choice as to when they want to retire. Allowing people to work for as long as they wish promotes efficient a harmonious working nation. This is because there tend to be a good established rapport between the employer and the employee (Walsh, 2013, p.700). It is a fact that a worker performs best at his or her own pleasure. This is on the basis that people are able to dedicate themselves to work without straining due to illness, being worn out just because one must attain 65 years to retire. This can be a torture especially for those who have health problems and those that strive to meet the social security. Rising retirement age to 65 is not favorable especially I this current situation of the economy where job opportunities are scarce (Coile, 2010, p.32). This denies the young energetic generations the opportunities to enter the job market earlier enough (Carlson, 2005, p.10). Older people should retire and pave way for youths. Moreover, employment currently dictates that anybody eligible to retire should go ahead and do so. Currently the economy dictates the age at which one wishes to retire; this is because the economy does not match the savings of workers. People are pessimistic about their little savings that cannot sustain them after retirement of 65. Workers therefore should be allowed to stay working in order to meet their demands pertaining their social security. Employers too determine the age retirement of employees especially in the private sector. This comes in situations whereby a worker can decide to seek earlier retirement basing on the working conditions and .In this case the employer should allow the employee to do so and therefore this call for employers to consider the employee’s increments. A person should therefore be allowed to express his or her rights but many at times employers take advantage of such situations to lay off these workers and they even deny workers their returns. Basing on this argument retirement age should not be enforced rather people should be allowed to enjoy and not suffer too work. People should not be forced to retire at age 65, since under the employment law, there is no exact age of employing professionals, there is a varied age limit. Having no a specific and fixed age of entry into employment, the same way there should not be a fixed age of retirement especially 65. This age limit do not cater for those people who get into employment too late to make reasonable saving after which they are forced to retire at the same tie with those who got employment earlier. It must be considered that it is not their wish to delay getting into the employment but a mere fact is that in the current world, employment is scarce due to the increasing world population. People should not be forced to retire at age 65, they should be judged on the basis of their ability to perform the job and not by their date of birth. Age should not be a limit and a reason to force people to retire. Many people of ages over 70 are still strong and can work. So there is no point of having their careers cut off in the name of retirement. They should be left to work until they decide that is enough for them. Therefore I advocate for flexible retirement, whereby both the employer and employee should come into a consensus whenever there comes a concern of retirement. Retirement should not be forced to come at age 65, this is not fair at all as to me age is not a limit, it entails some other factors such as health, financial status, working conditions and more so motivation. There is no one who is financially satisfied, so people should be allowed to work for as long as they want to. There are those who seek retirement even before they attain age 60, this is not to say that they are satisfied financially but due to other pressing issues such as health hazards and harsh conditions of work making them quit. According to epistemologists’ statistics, there is slightly a higher or earlier on average for those people who retire at 55 compared to those who retire at age 65.accoerding to my analysis too, people who retire at an earlier age of foe instance 55, they tend not to exploit their potential to the maximum. They are usually at the peak of their working only to realize that they are supposed to stop working. In the current world of globalization, people start to work even at age 50. With such like cases, it is not fair to force these people to retire at age 65. They are usually on the realization of their dreams pertaining their savings. Hardly do they save than they are already retired. This argument of age retirement depends on the kind of job one does, for instance, there are those jobs that are more physically and mentally wanting than others, in this case these jobs are often health demanding (Hillier, 2010, p.215). Therefore this can pose some truth behind suggestions that workers in certain professionals die earlier than others. This is because of the strain that they encounter struggling to attain retirement age. Generally people should be working for as long as they want to. This should be considered bearing in mind that any working professional should be intrinsically motivated to work. Therefore no one should dictate another person’s willingness or unwillingness to work. A person should be self motivated to work better. This gives room for people to exercise their rights pertaining their needs. So whoever feels that he or she has attained enough and served enough should be given a go ahead to retire, and whoever feels it is not enough for his or her needs, should be given chance to continue serving for so long as no one is forcing him or her. Conclusion In conclusion I deduce that people should not be forced to retire at age 65 but rather be allowed to work for as long as they are willing and able to perform. They should retire on the basis of how best they can perform. References Burtless, G. T., & Quinn, J. F. (2000). Retirement trends and policies to encourage work among older Americans.
