He has acquired to his credit beyond 500 speeches, attended several seminars and keynote addresses to spread the knowledge about competitive intelligence across the world.
His latest achievements include the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professional’s Catalyst honor to respect his contribution in the field of competitive intelligence. Awards also came to him from educational organizations like Academy of Business Administration, the International Council for Small Business - South Africa, the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, and the Academy of International Business. The international journals like Competitive Intelligence Review, Business Quarterly, International Journal of Small Business Management, and International Business Review also contain informative articles and eye openers contributed by him.
His case on the Sterling Marking products has become a key collection of Ivey School of Business and was a part of the 10 most marketed cases. This is also a selection amongst the best articles collected by Business Quarterly. He has been heard over the radio in different interviews (Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa, n.d.). Dr. Jonathan Calof passed his graduation level from University of Western Ontario, Ivey School of Business and Carleton University. He is a part of the editorial team of many publications and an editor of Executive Magazine.
In general he is a productive author and has over 100 publications in his name. He serves as a consultant and also an academician. There are two companies, Success Nexus (a biodiesel firm from Malaysia) and RoboCoder (software firm in Canada). (Strategico Marketing Group, n.d.) His drive is towards the application of intelligence to draw out paths in technological growth and business opportunities in the market. Jonathan Calof’s work ‘Trade Show Intelligence’ is very innovative and shows the importance of training along with intelligence (Calof, 2003).
In a certain article in Edmontonian Calof is referred in the following words “one of the world leaders in competitive intelligence" and another publication (the Chartered Accountants magazine) entitled him as “a highly sought after, as a consultant, by businesses and government agencies” (Strategico Marketing Group, n.d). As an associate professor of Ottawa University in Canada, Dr. Calof composed a paper based on an extensive study of the exporters in the nation and what kind of information would be most helpful to them.
He reached the important finding that the data collection requirements of the domestic front are different from the global arena. Exporters mostly require customer information, data on competitors and benchmarks for decisions along with a perception of administrative structure (Blenkhom, 2005, pp.59-60). His studies and researches designed have led to important findings, which have helped businesses grow. Different forums and networks have grown all over the cyber world in order to help the aspiring business students and the companies to keep in touch with him and his ever-updating knowledge based in competitive intelligence.
