Findings of inquest involve a hard practice that requires urgency and commitment in order to come up with clear information about who, when, and how the death occurred, and make conclusion. Many deaths occur at different places, they involve many people, and some of the death incidences are uncertain. From the Coronial Inquest of the death of Barbara Mary Piro, the case was much involving and time consuming and yet the deceased would not come back to life (Ryan, & Walton, 2003, 92). Barbara Mary Piro died and even after the finding of inquest, she remained dead, and the only thing that was done is to allow her relatives understand their mistakes of failing to provide the required care. A family member demanded the inquest just to benefit from the death of a loved one by only knowing the cause of the death. The inquest was demanded because the daughter to Mrs. Piro was not aware of the cause of her mother’s death. The entire investigation was done and testimonies given by those who had seen Mrs. Piro lastly before her death. It is clear that, Mrs. Piro’s death was caused by lack of proper care since she was an elderly. He daughter left her on her own and being the only one who knew how to provide the required care, she could not survive. The death of a person cannot be reversed. Sometimes people die because of hidden reasons or because of suffering from some health problems that are rarely identified since they develop and grow in the body without being noticed. When old people die, the causes of their death can be many because old age is associated with many health problems. Once an elderly person is well taken care of, it becomes possible to understand the cause and occurrence of his or her death without conducting investigations through a court case. Sometimes people fail to play their roles by providing the required care to the elderly and then put the blame of the elderly people’s death on other people and situations. If Susan Piro had not travelled and continued taking care of her mother, maybe she could not have died the way she did (Ryan, & Walton, 2003, 119). Maybe Susan could have noticed a health problem in her mother and taken her to the hospital for medication on time. As a nurse, she was able to check her blood pressure and could understand her mother’s health condition. Elderly people require someone to supervise them and ensure that they do take their medication because in most cases since they are in most cases forgetful and may also deliberately refuse to take medication. This research problem is very important because it will enable people gain understanding of the need of providing required care to elderly people. It will allow people making different judgments of people’s death especially the elderly when they fail to understand the causes of their deaths. Research Question Is the finding of inquest a good and just practice? Literature Review Finding of inquest is not mandatory, but in some cases, it becomes mandatory especially after a court ruling. According to the argument put forth by Carroll, Hawton, Kapur, Bennewith and Gunnell (2011, 52), inquest is necessary when the death occurred because of fire and the source of fire is uncertain and when the dead was missing before his or her death. It is apparent that findings of inquest are involving because there has to be some medical and legal investigations in order to understand the specific cause of the death. Moreover, there is the need of witnesses to give their testimonies before the coroner and this might lead to one or more witnesses being charged with some criminal offences leading to the death of the deceased. As articulated by Duffin (2012, 5), unnatural deaths, like suicides, homicides, as well as accidents and other deaths where the cause is not clear require the inquest in order to have a clear understanding of the fact behind the death. Death happens because of many and diverse reasons and if people decide to hold inquests in all deaths that occur globally, they will be expensive and wastage of time since many people die every day and majority of deaths are not associated with clear or definite causes. When presenting the findings of inquest, it is not necessary to include information about the occupation of the dead because it is irrelevant. After doing the medical investigations and getting the required results, there is no need of posting some probabilities regarding the death because the fact has already been gotten. In the Coronial Inquest of the death of Barbara Mary Piro, the doctor who did the post-mortem concluded that if Mrs. Piro went through some medication before her death, maybe she could not have died the way she died (Ryan, & Walton, 2003, 147). Duffin (2012, 5) states that, once a death has occurred and the facts behind the death are found, there is no need of making judgments because they might not help in any way. However, when an inquest fails to be held just after the death, it is irrelevant to conduct police investigations regarding the death because it might be time consuming and lead to no clear results. When the death of a person occurs in the house especially when the person died while on the bed, there should only be some medical investigations, but the testimonies from the witnesses would be of no help once the cause of the death is medically identified. Once the findings of inquest are presented to the family of the deceased, the family members are left blaming each other, like in the case of Mrs. Piro where Susan her daughter is to take all the blame because of travelling and leaving her mother aged and yet she was the one who was taking care of her. It is apparent that, findings of inquest might raise some doubts about the incidence of the deceased’s death to the public because the findings might not persuade the concerned public. If the death of a person occurs while under custody of police, an individual or a group, medical investigation would be very essential, as well as the interviews to the concerned people. Findings of inquest are legally interpreted in a court of law by a coroner whereby he or she is the one who is supposed to make the final decision or judgment. As pointed out by Duffin (2012, 5), the coroner takes control of the whole process of holding the inquest where he or she receives the medical investigations about the cause of the death and listens to the testimonies of the witnesses. According to the research carried out by Carroll, et al. (2011, 64), It is very important to take into consideration the entire possibilities of the death during the process of searching for the facts behind a certain death. This is because deaths occur because of diverse reasons and considering some of them and leaving others might not lead to getting the necessary findings. According to the argument put forth by Duffin (2012, 5), when some investigation require various documents from the workplace of the deceased, it is necessary to file them together with the findings and compare them when making the judgment. In many cases, inquest are presented to the public through the news, newspaper or other articles, but this should not be the case because it is only the family of the deceased requested for the findings and should be the one to know the findings of the inquest held. Carroll, et al. (2011, 87) argue that, exposure of the findings of the inquest to the public might raise some legal issues and this might affect the family of the deceased to an extent of getting mental problems. It is necessary for the bereaved family to be satisfied with the occurrence of death of their loved one holding inquest might result to more family issues and leave the person demanding for the findings devastated and having not gotten the expected answers. Sometimes people ask for the inquest far much later after the death and the burial of the deceased because they put the doubt of the cause of the death as a secret and then develop the interest later. To avoid this, it is necessary to take the death matter the way it is without associating it with many things because death comes naturally, regardless the cause. As postulated by Carroll, et al. (2011, 89), death is something that is unavoidable and people should not make judgments associated with a certain death. It is clear that, dying at home or anywhere else should be claimed to have been caused by criminal issues because many deaths occur naturally and the results of medical investigations might not be always right. When people die, it is necessary to bury them with respect and stop many cases especially when the death incident was not violent and when the person died without interference from another person. It is apparent that, Mrs. Piro died when alone in her house and she was aged whereby old age is highly associated with health problems that cause many deaths among the elderly people. There was no need of medical investigation or holding of inquest because the family members had failed to provide the required care to Mrs. Piro when she was alive. It is a bad feeling when a person dies and other people start making judgments regarding the cause of the death. Holding of inquest is a practice that is not affordable to many people and many wish to understand the cause of deaths of their loved ones. The argument that, people should not hold inquests in certain deaths especially deaths that involve elderly people having died at home, is much considerate of people who require providing care to the older people. Ultimately, holding inquest might be costly and lead to no changes to the death of the deceased and burial plans because the result might be obvious or natural. Satisfaction of people or the public regarding the cause of one’s death should be found without having to go through a legal process where there is the practice of investigating the death. People should not be engaged in testifying about issues related to the cause of a particular death because this might make them feel devastated and emotionally affected for being suspected to have something associated to the death. It is apparent that, engaging people to witness about the death of a loved them might make them to get judged wrongly and yet the death of the deceased might be caused by another reason and not the activities of the suspect. However, people can take some preventative measures to avoid future deaths, but the measures can only be effective if people take good care of their loved ones and preventing unclear situations, such as fire from happening. People associate deaths with many questions, but it becomes hard to get answers to the entire asked question. Nevertheless, people make guesses about the causes of certain deaths, but the entire guesses might not be proved. However, the deaths of old people might come automatically or naturally without being associated with health or artificial causes. It is apparent that, when people reach age of 82 years old, their life expectancy is around 7 years and they can die any time from getting to that age. It is necessary for people to understand the facts related to death and avoid holding inquest because it might consume time and money and fail to give the expected satisfaction to those demanding the findings. It is clear that, many people die every day from unclear reasons; hence, stopping the practice of holding inquest might make life easier and allow people to accept what has already happened rather than being stressed by something that already happened and cannot be reversed. Many people seem to be highly concerned about the death of their loved ones, but this should not be the case because they might get emotionally affected and fear death. Many people claim to be surprised by death of their loved ones and majority blame themselves because of the death and start wishing they could have done something to avoid it from occurring. Death should not be taken seriously especially when they occur without criminal activities and people should mind more about themselves the bereaved and not much about the already dead people. The research helps many people change their attitude towards death and understand that is caused by many reasons and it might occur naturally regardless their effort to avoid it. Conclusion The aim and objectives of this research is enable people take death lightly and have a clear understanding of death. The research would help people stop holding inquest when it is not necessary and avoiding spending much time and money with death investigations. The research aims at allowing people understand that, death is something that will have to get to all human beings regardless the diverse causes and circumstances of its occurrence. The research would enable people stop judging other people and different circumstances associated to the death of a person. People will manage to provide the necessary care to their loved ones especially the elderly people who require much care and concern for them to live a healthy life. This research will allow many people to avoid demanding for other’s testimonies because witnessing about a death might affect the mental and emotional health of the witness. Moreover, the research aims at reducing the death cases that people raise without a clear destination just to put blame on other people and to destroy their lives because of the death of another person. The research aims at reducing the family issues that rise up from the death of loved ones whereby people argue out of things that should not let them argue or raise issues. The research will be carried out to prevent people from exercising poor judgment regarding deaths of their loved ones and to understand more about isolation and denial of care to other people in the family or the community at large. The appropriate qualitative research design to address this research design and aim of the research will be phenomenology qualitative research design. This is where the researcher will look at individual’s point of view regarding the research question and seek to understand their experience. The design will allow the research to collect information related to perceptions, feelings, and reactions of individuals about a specific phenomenon. In this case, the research will seek to get information about individual’s perceptions about holding of inquest and their feelings towards the issue. This design would be appropriate in answering this research question and since the issue of findings of inquest is a phenomenon that is beyond quantitative analysis, it will be possible to get the answer to the research question. Through the use of this qualitative research design, it will be possible to analyse the results of the study qualitatively since the issue requires qualitative approach.
