Nursing managers and leaders have to make use of different styles of leadership in order to attain adequate work motivation. Leadership in nursing management should be focused on competencies and confidence.Abdul Qayyum Chaudhry and Husnain Javed, (2012).Impact of Transactional and Laissez Faire Leadership Style on Motivation.International Journal of Business and Social ScienceTo explore the dominant leadership style in the public and private sector and hence identify which style is beneficial for the banking sector in Pakistan.The research uses both qualitative and quantitative studies. Samples were selected from the leaders in the public and private sectors management and questionnaires issued.
Variables included age, years of experience, gender and marital status of the respondents. These were related to the style of leadership and the effectiveness. Managers in banks that have transactional leadership style are more motivated.There were no significant disparities on the level of motivation across age, gender and marital status.Those managers with a longer period of experience motivate their staff more.Strengths:The study is a cross-sectional study with relevant firsthand data and this increases reliability.
Limitations:The researcher were not thorough enough to collect information which could have broadened the study and give better results for a deeper analysis.The age or other personal factors matter less in motivation.
