The aviation industry has a major challenge when it comes to the cleanliness of the airline cabin. While this is an important exercise that is supposed to ensure that the health status of passengers is not compromised, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has neglected it. For instance, some of the current regulations to ensure safety of passengers include the Clean Water Act of 1997, and Clean Air act of 1970 (Jathar, 2012). The FAA has however failed to establish rules and regulations that would make it mandatory for the airlines to clean their aircrafts.

This has made it difficult to know what kinds of detergents are used, or even whether aircrafts are indeed cleaned. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have established regulation that should ensure that the health of employees is not threatened (Hoffman, 2011). It achieved this by establishing the Hazardous Communication Standards (29 CFR 1910.1200), which has been made part of the Code of Federal Regulations (David, 2011).
