Fossil fuel energy and nuclear energy are the popular energy sources at present; however, these energy sources are not only getting exhausted but also causing problems to the environment. Moreover these energy sources are non-renewable in nature. On the other hand, solar energy is a renewable energy source. But the technologies available to exploit solar energy is not developed properly yet. Whatever the solar energy exploitation technologies available now are expensive compared to the other energy sources and hence still we are relying on conventional energy sources such as coal, fossil fuel, nuclear energy etc. However, solar energy seems to be the most important renewable energy source which may help us to solve our energy crisis in future. “Solar energy systems consisting of solar collectors, sensible energy storage and a closed loop flow circuit” (Garg & Garg, p.75). Solar panels represent solar collectors and sensible energy storage means photovoltaic cells or solar cells.
Solar is cell is an equipment which converts solar energy into electrical energy. Photovoltaic cells are currently used to operate solar devices. Photovoltaic cells contain certain chemicals which may undergo chemical reactions (Photovoltaic effect) in the presence of solar energy to produce electricity. Solar panels collect energy from solar radiations and transmit it to the solar cells which convert this energy into chemical energy first and then to electrical energy when required. An inverter helps the transmission of electrical energy from solar cells to the electrical circuits when needed.
It is believed that solar energy can solve the energy crisis up to certain extent if utilized properly. It should be forgotten than the solar energy exploitation technology is highly expensive. However, sunny cities and wealthy rural areas can think about the ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Solar Cells of Carbon Nanotube Polymers

... Solar cells firm allocation Introduction A new company is very sensitive and requires keen consideration of all factors affecting the firm. A solar cell firm will need to be strategic enough both in terms of task application and customer relation. The firm must come up with ways to ensure 100%c customer satisfaction for it to sustainable enough as far as products and community relations are concerned (Sheila, G. bailey, 2009). Site preparation In a site preparation, the project team should be very critical and creative because this is very essential in determining the success of the company. The preparation process includes tilling and removing of compacted layers, destroying the available weeds, improving the tillage of the soil... ...

Advantages of using solar cells

...? 23 July Advantages of Using Solar Cells The environment has become a big issue around the whole world. During the last decade, it started to change quickly. The earth is becoming warmer and because of that, there are a lot of natural problems and disasters around the world. This is called global warming. People on earth caused this change in temperature. Further, people need energy in their daily lives. They need electricity, fire, hot water, heating and cooling. To produce energy that is enough for all of these activities, we need fossil fuels and coal. All the countries around the world use these two fuels to make electricity and to heat water or air. Many rich countries depend on countries in the...

Photovoltaic Solar Cells: Alternate Energy Sources for Electricity Generation

...Photovoltaic Solar Cells: Alternate Energy Sources for Electricity Generation Abundance of free and seemingly infinite quantity of sunlight available to the earth is a resource of energy, which has remained relatively untapped. Harnessing of this energy for conversion to electricity by photovoltaic technology is of recent origin and offers considerable potential for its commercial exploitation in the years to come, amidst dwindling resources of fossilized fuels. It has emerged as a major power source, because of its proven reliability and several economic and environmental benefits. suggests the factors of reliability which support its cause as given below: It is free, clean and permits...

How solar cells are made

...Solar Panels: Harnessing Renewable Sources of Energy The importance of using renewable sources of energy such as solar energy is a crucial issuenowadays. There are two main reasons for such 1) renewable sources are free 2) use of such type of energy does not contribute to greenhouse gas emissions as compared to fossil fuels. In Britain alone, use of solar energy is aggressively promoted by the government due to high incidence of “fuel poverty”. There are many types of solar technology that can be used depending on the needs of the consumers. However, this paper is focused on Solar Photovolatic technology commonly known as “solar...

Organic solar cells

...Organic Solar Cells Literature Review In the study of organic solar cells, the functions, the structure, development and advancements in terms of the theoretical and applied technologies based on empirical studies and research are important in the field. Energy Source The development of solar cells is undertaken to answer the needs for energy sources specifically renewable type that is advantageous for the environment. In such case less harm can be achieved due to the production of electricity even without the release of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases. The development of the organic type of solar or photovoltaic cells is done to be able to achieve greater efficiency and power conversion efficiency (PCE). The development... of the...

Organic solar cells

...Organic Solar Cells Organic solar cells are a kind of polymer solar cell. Organic solar cells use organic electronics for absorption of light and transport of charge to use the photovoltaic effect to generate electricity from the sunlight. The production cost of plastic employed in the organic solar cells in high volumes is low. Owing to the high optical absorption coefficient of the organic molecules, a small amount of materials can result in the absorption of light in large amount. One of the major disadvantages of the organic solar...

Organic Solar cells

...14 March Organic Solar Cells Introduction Organic solar cells are devices that produce electri from sunlight through conductive polymers, which are forms of organic molecules. The technology is just gaining acceptance because of its cost implications. Organic polymers are relatively cheap and easy to access; they also posses many physical and chemical properties that allow them to be used in such applications. However, they have certain shortcomings that may limit widespread adoption. History and background of organic solar cells As far back as 1839, a physicist named Edmond Becquerel discovered the photovoltaic effect. He realised that...

Question Set of Organic Solar Cells

...Question Set of Organic Solar Cells Question Yes, the resultant spectrum is unremitting which is explainable using classical mechanics. The hotness of the filament within the incandescent lamp makes it glows (Kragh, 2012). Atoms within the filament become extremely energetic, and the corresponding electrons within them begin vibrating at diverse frequencies thereby producing radiation. The spectrum of the bulb is viewed via a diffraction grating depicting all colors. Question 2 The image composes of distinct colors that are mainly features of the gas, which explains utilizing Quantum Mechanics of the electrons within an atom solely exist within specific states (Kragh, 2012). Moreover, electrons in the transition radiate photons... Set of...
