In this regard a latest technology has been developed by considering two major areas of importance: structured data management which is generally performed through the frameworks of Business Intelligence and organization of unstructured content which is handled through the frameworks of Knowledge Management technology. In the existing businesses working which are including business intelligence and knowledge management, they are intended to store structured data extensively and its usage in real time to evaluate the results and also correspond them to the strategic management. This paper is intended to highlight the comprehensive analysis of the knowledge management and business intelligence technology trends and integration. This paper also describes the aspects of knowledge management and business intelligence technology and its increasing use and functional support in the working of existing business.
In the existing age the information technology has influenced all the walks of life. Technology has greatly influenced the businesses. Under these circumstances we are observing huge developments in the field of database technology. In this scenario, Watson & Ariyachandra (2006) describe that new and extremely sophisticated technology for the information systems and databases is employed to handle and control huge amount of data or information about organization and business. So, the deployment of this technology in information systems and database provides support for the business, organizational record keeping and report generation based on some specific query. Knowledge management plays a critical role in attracting and maintaining customers, and which helps in profitability. It also contributes in the attainment of competitive advantage by integrating organization processes, technology and people.
Business intelligence is one of such technologies; it refers to computer based techniques that are used to identify and extract patterns from business data to facilitate decision making and formulation of effective strategies. Power (2007) stated that business intelligence is also referred to as decision support systems.
This requires development of a system that links all the process of the organization and gathers information from suppliers, distributors and customers. This system must be secure and integrates all the processes of an organization. In addition, the system must be maintained and upgraded as changes in technology occur.
The purpose of Business intelligence is to look through the stored information, generate historical, present, and even predict future events of a business, thus helping an organization to operate based on reliable information, thus planning effectively for its activities to enhance business growth and success.
