The Information revolution has spawned numerous technologies geared towards automating the office. Information Systems has created new paradigm shifts in organizational processes. The trend in organizations is implementing Enterprise Resource Planning and Information Systems solutions such as groupware and enterprise applications, for example databases or shared repositories, intranets, workflow, imaging systems, and other customized applications.
Technological advancement and continuous innovations have motivated organizations and businesses to react to changes in the global competition. Organizations have to reorganize, reevaluate and reprogram outdated functions and activities, and realign them to the present trends for improvement and competition. Personnel and field people, ordinary employees, including middle-level and top management have to refocus along the line of technological innovations. IT applications provide easy handling of strategic operations and other supervisory and managerial functions of the organization.
External and internal environments in organizations are becoming complex; thus they are handled with a globally-oriented brand of management, with the aid of Information Technology. Corporate management is now handling a global-scale brand of management, requiring a different kind of strategy, much distinct from traditional management.

The research involves developing 54 Safe Operating procedures, 14 of these are system SOP’s which will be trailed and practiced on these sites and after the pilot these sites will be ready for use before the beginning of 2012. Full implementation in every State of Australia by the middle of 2012 will follow to comply with this requirement.
ERP implementation has occurred across many business sectors such as banking, insurance, manufacturing, telecommunication and many more. Universities and colleges have also incorporated ERP systems within the education sector. Implementing these systems introduces flexibility within an organization and eases expansion process.
These business software suits have become so important in today’s business environment that without them an organization cannot identify its deficiencies that are crippling its progress. But these systems are not a complete “No Brainer”, because they are extremely complex and very expensive.
This perception proves to be true a lot of times, though not always. Adopting an ERP system for a company helps the firm transform itself by business process reengineering. ERP implementation also helps the company synchronize the systems and working even when the systems are separated by distance.
Finally there were inconsistencies in linking the system with other dependant external systems needed for the smooth running of the business. Due to these factors, POP 02 proved to be unreliable and the company decided to revert back to the old system (Hamilton 100).
In other words, ERP attempts to put together all functions and departments across an organization onto a single computer system. In addition, an organization can use ERP software applications to handle product planning, parts purchasing, inventories, communicating with suppliers, tracking orders and providing customer service.
It has been found that even with the best ERP system with a poor implementation plan, the whole system is bound to fail. The implementation will determine the success of the ERP system (Young, 2009). There are instances where the system needs to certain crucial implementation steps like training.
It is required at all levels of the organization. The study also discusses the importance of the research process suggested by Sekaran & Bougie for conducting any research work.
