In fact the consequences of Methamphetamine abuse are more severe than other drugs. “An estimated 529,000 Americans were current users of methamphetamine (0.2 percent of the population). Of the 157,000 people who used methamphetamine for the first time in 2007, the mean age at first use was 19.1 years, which is down from the mean age of 22.2 in 2006” (NIDA InfoFacts: Methamphetamine, 2009). “According to the 2008 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), approximately 12.6 million Americans aged 12 or older reported using methamphetamine at least once during their lifetimes, representing 5% of the population aged 12 or older” (Office of national drug control policy, n. d) The above statistics clearly shows that the Methamphetamine abuse is slowly catching the much younger generation also.

The abuse of drugs especially the abuse of Methamphetamine like drugs creates more health problems to the younger generation than the older generation. This paper briefly explains the abuse of Methamphetamine and its consequences. Methamphetamine is used in the treatment of attention deficit disorders, narcolepsy and obesity (US Drug enforcement association, n. d). Attention Deficit disorder is a major psychological problem in America like western countries. The over commitments of the parents, in their professional, personal and social life prevent them from giving enough attention, love and care to their children.

These children often brought up in day care centers under the strict guidance of the caregivers. The lack of care and attention may make such children problematic in their behaviors in schools, families and societies as well. Central nervous system and the brain have lot of roles in the making of an ADHD child. Controlled doses of Methamphetamine under the supervision of a medical practitioner can make substantial changes in the brain and central nervous system of the ADHD child and the child may regain his original character.
