My main concern at this point of time is achieving financial independence at the earliest. But looking at the economy today, I am more than sure that I would need all the help in the world to achieve it. Financial security and independence are like a three legged stool resting on savings, insurance and investments. I intend to do all that it takes to improve my knowledge to ensure proper decisions on these aspects. With this in mind, I was listing out the educational programs that were available and CMA program was one of them.

After going through the facts regarding the salary hike post CMA as well as the versatile curriculum, CMA program seemed like an obvious choice. I have been working with an audit firm for the last three years and through this experience I did gain good amount of knowledge in the fields of financial accounting, auditing and taxation. But lately I have realized the importance of management and decision making in comparison to analyzing the outcomes of decision already made. Moreover, my educational qualification and work experience has given me a strong foundation in public accounting, but now I find the necessity to broaden my horizon so that when required, I would be able to view a situation from various angles rather than having just an auditor's view.

Also, in order to improve my career, I would have to be in a position wherein I would have the responsibility as well as the capability to make crucial decisions. As I went through the IMA website, I realized that the curriculum in the CMA program could prepare me well for this challenge. Five years or so down the line, I pictured myself in a high profile job. Looking at the career opportunities that CMA has to provide, I am positive about fulfilling my dreams much earlier. I have always been a person who likes to work on one's own terms.

Though I am part of a finance team of a medium scale company right now, I intend to establish my own business in the near future. As of now, I am working on improving my skill and knowledge and looking for ways to increase the resources available in order to achieve my goals. On going through the IMA website, I realized that it could help me in more than a few ways to be successful, some of which are as follows:(1) Access to relevant information resource would help me make informed decisions.(2) Considering the profile of other members of IMA, I am sure of receiving updated information on a timely basis.(3) IMA seems to be a community of numerous members and chapters all around the world.

I always dream big, and hence, I intend to take my business to an international level. IMA seems to be a suitable platform to keep myself updated with the opportunities and happenings around the globe.(4) One of the aspects that drew my attention is the grant programs mentioned under value adding partnerships. This could make a huge difference for beginners like me.(5) Networking is the most important ingredient for a successful business. IMA, with its reach all over the world, seems like an ideal medium to build links and ensure its continuous growth.

It is a well accepted statement that money is hard to earn and easy to lose. But considering all that IMA has to offer, I am pretty sure that the statement can be changed. With the unlimited information and network, money wouldn't be all that hard to earn, and with the knowledge and financial management skills losing money wouldn't be all that easy either.
