Analysis of the Sources about Political Ideologies

To determine how a well-organized society can be established and unified, another fundamental notion of political liberalism is the idea of an ‘overlapping consensus of reasonable comprehensive doctrines’. In this form of agreement, the practical doctrines promote the political view, each derived from its own perspective. Social unity is founded on an agreement on the political view, and stability is plausible when the principles forming the agreement are confirmed by politically involved citizens and the conditions of justice are not severely opposed to the basic interests of the citizens as constructed and endorsed by their social consensus.

The idea underlying every interpretation of liberalism has tradi...

Personal Choice: A Comparative Analysis

Published in 1915, the poem’s elements of individual freedom and choice owe much to the nation’s foundational thought that can be traced from Thomas Jefferson to the very core of Ralph Waldo Emerson and can even be seen to embody a European existentialistic spirit. Today, Frost’s poem represents us all, whenever we face the diverging paths in our own lives.

The essential symbolism behind The Road Not Taken is the freedom of choice. Frost advances this metaphor by comparing the decision-making process to, “Two roads diverged(ing) in a yellow wood.” It’s notable that Frost uses the ‘roads’ for his symbolic task over the perhaps more clichéd choice of ‘paths&rsqu...

All of us go through such experiences too, although we do not always notice it if we do not give ourselves time for introspection. This happened to me already. As a result, there is considerable debate over whether world economies will gravitate toward adopting a common Anglo-American corporate governance structure or will...

Rhetorical Analysis of Obama Inauguration Address

Not only was the Republican regime of the two Bush Presidents now formally over, but for the first time in history an African American man was taking on the highest and most powerful role in America, and arguably also in the modern world. The weight of history on his shoulders was very heavy, and expectations from all around him were impossibly high. He was no doubt well aware that this speech would be broadcast across the world and closely analyzed by supporters, opponents, and other observers, and he very probably had a team of advisors and coaches helping him to get the content and tone just right, trying to meet as many conflicting expectations as possible, without antagonizing rivals or causing alarm. In the end, the speech w...

Analysis of Documentary about Jerusalem

The documentary is historically accurate and generally fair. There is a lot of room for error, but Jennings is careful to present a balanced perspective.

Religion clearly plays a dramatic role in the Middle East. The truth is that nationalism also plays a huge role. The conflict has a long and bloody history and many people have tried and failed to solve it before. Nothing new has happened in the last few years to make it any easier to solve. In fact, some things have gotten quite a bit worse. There is little visionary leadership available on either side. As things stand now, it is unlikely this conflict will be resolved. The two sides are intractably opposed to one other. Furthermore, the Arab world is poorly developed...
