In the past security has been on debate, where the population and the government have been trying to weigh options on the best methods of security enhancement to enhance. The government provides its security by placing its security personnel strategically at designated stations. However this security is not enough and that calls for alternative systems to enhance security, either at home or in offices. Emergency security systems are gadgets and procedures which are put in place to enhance security in case of attempted breach. This report seeks to expound on emergency security systems. Literature review According to Smith & Messina (2004), emergency security systems are implemented in homes and offices to ensure security. These systems range from alarm systems to intrusion tracking devices and fire detectors. Emergency security systems play a big role in the enhancement of the national security. These systems are developed to have an automatic detection, of security breach and have a way of notifying the authorities (Moore 2009). This relieves the security personnel the work of watching over offices, banks and homes. Emergency security systems are important in the following ways; Property protection This is the main reason why emergency security systems are installed. They tend to scare away burglars and also alert the owner on a security breach early in advance (Saeed & Pejaś 2005). Fire protection These refer to fire alarms and smoke detectors which notify owners of a fire as it starts. There are also the heats detectors which detect rise in temperature at a given place in a building, this helps show the exact position a fire starts. Notifications by these devices give the occupants of the premises time to escape and to plan on actions to take in order to counter the fire (Saeed & Pejaś 2005). Protection from carbon poisoning-carbon monoxide poisoning involves use of an odorless gas released from fuel combustion. Once picked up by the red blood cells in the body it inhibits oxygen intake and this can result to death after a few minutes. Carbon poisoning is prevented by use of carbon detectors which notifies occupants of a building of carbon gas presence in good time (Saeed & Pejaś 2005). Gives peace of mind-presence of an effective emergency security system put in place gives peace of mind. This is possible because the people occupying a certain premise know that incase of fire or burglar intrusion, they will be notified in time and be able to counter it and protect themselves. Saving on property owner’s insurance-most of owners have an insurance policy put in place to ensure security of their premises in case of an emergency. These insurances covers most events like burglary attack, fire, hurricanes and other devastating events. These security systems early notifications allow necessary action to be taken to counter the risk and that minimizes the damages caused. Timely medical assistance-current security systems are installed in such a way that incase of any emergency, all one needs to do is to press a button and medical assistance is dispatched to assist. This is a great advantage of the current automated security systems. Record of information-current emergency security systems like CCTV cameras record all what takes place at the area where they are installed and stores all the information on their databases. This information helps in cases of burglar attack where the security forces retrieve the relevant video tracks from the system and that enables them to piece in all what happened at the crime scene and probably be able to make arrests. In the current world, revolution and advancement in technology has seen people embrace automatic security enhancing devices (Saeed & Pejaś 2005). The government has too embraced the technological advancements and has procured some of the latest emergency security enhancement devices. This is in addition to the human security personnel who may not be as vigilant as the gadgets put in place. In the sultanate of orman, there is massive implementation of the current technology in security systems. Implementation of the systems is meant to chip in and bridge the gap which is not filled by the current security systems (Horn 1993). For instance the watch guards may not be able to watch on all sides of a building and are probably placed on the gates. This leaves some other three sides with no one watching at, which necessitates installations of CCTV cameras, and motion detection sensors which will automatically notify the security personnel of an intrusion anytime somebody tries to breach the border lines. Many business premises, organizations and even governments have lately procured emergency security devices which are to aid in enhancement of security together with the security forces. This is evident when you analyze the US and UK security systems which have extensive use of the above mentioned security systems. For instance the U.S has security cameras placed all over the streets alley and in every corner which might be a potential crime scene (Saeed & Pejaś 2005). Security cameras help in monitoring the population and incase of crime reporting the security personnel go back to their databases and zoom on the crime scene and they are able to obtain footage of the crime recorded by the camera nearest to the crime scene (Moore 2008). Solving of mysterious cases is made easily achievable by these emergence security gadgets and the general security is greatly improved. There is also the use of automatic fire detectors and fire extinguishers. These are devices which are installed in office premises, business or even homes which are able to detect smoke and notify the occupants. A more complex system of the same has water sprinklers and gas extinguisher taps placed strategically in a building whereby the sensors send signals to the sprinklers and extinguishers which automatically, turn on and the fire is put off immediately (Saeed & Pejaś 2005). These types of emergency security systems have been widely adopted all over the world. Their effectiveness and adaptability into the initial systems has encouraged more use of the systems. When it comes to emergency security matters, promptness in reporting and fast response is very vital. A dedicated toll free call line for emergency reporting is also availed which enables the citizens to report emergency crimes or occurrences which need immediate attention of the security forces. This system is similar to systems adapted in the U.S where they too have dedicated toll free call lines for emergency reporting. The system enables immediate reporting of crimes and fast response by the security personnel In places like the UK, the police unit has a crew specifically set aside to handle emergencies (Chandler 2010). The crew which operates in groups of about ten highly trained soldiers is responsible for any emergency criminal cases which arise. This was reached at after analyzing the police systems and the cases received. Some cases were so complicated that they needed specially trained people to handle them while others required very prompt response. These compelled the authority to come up with a system which will be able to act as required and give efficient service to the population. The current technology in emergency security in the developed countries like the US is the use of laser detection and laser sensors. These are laser rays which are put in protected property to enhance security. They usually are invisible rays which sense motion and trigger a notification which sets on the alarm systems. However the technology is quite expensive and can only be implemented by the rich. Conclusion Emergency security systems play an important role in helping the security forces in enhancement of general security. As discussed above emergency security systems like the CCTV systems are quite useful in enhancing the current world security whereby they give footage of crimes and give the security personnel a general overview of what ensues in a crime scene. There is also the toll free call lines for emergency reporting and a troop of dedicated and specially trained personnel who are mainly there to respond to emergencies. However these systems are not fully effective as some crimes cannot be captured. For example the CCTV cameras will only capture happenings around where they are mounted, yet the top emergency security firms have a response and way of handling things that proves to be more informed than the information provided by the systems. This is provided by use of satellite and drone security surveillance systems. These are emergency security surveillance systems used by security forces which capture events on target areas and are able to give footage on that. Research Proposal Literature Review Security maintenance and response goes hand in hand. Despite there being systems to enhance security and help the security personnel to effectively carry out their duties, the response to an emergency case reported solely depends on the readiness and preparedness of the forces to handle the case. Over time it has been noted that the time taken to respond to emergencies matters a lot in containing of the emergency (Bumgarner 2008). This document is a literature review on response of emergency security forces in an occurrence of an emergency. The proposed will discuss all aspects regarding emergency response and suggest a solution to the same. Aims and Significance of the research This research proposal is aimed at; Finding out the normal response time of security forces Finding out factors which may lead to delayed response and incapability to handle a situation. Suggest some additional measure which should be implemented in the security forces to enable fast response and effective service delivery In general. To identify key factors that contribute to current slow response, with a focus on emergency reporting time and response times as stated in the available records. ƒ To test the rate of acceptance of key security concepts currently applied and recommend behaviors which may aid increasing skilled attendance, and determine the various conditions which are acceptable as per the current security standards. ƒ To document communication channels that facilitate rapid delivery of information about and implementation of improved service delivery practices. Methodology Qualitative data analysis methods will be best suited for this kind of the research whereby data will be collected through use of interviews with the top security official and a few medium level servicemen to give information about their operations and hardships they face in the line of duty. The population will also be interviewed where they are expected to narrate their experience with the security forces on emergency matters and also give an opinion on how they think service delivery will be improved.
