Business idea and research plan Name: Institution name  Summary of the business The group consist of six members; Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Ali Al Hammadi, Mohammed Hareb Mohammed Ahmed Khamis Al Roumathi Ahmed Mussabeh their responsibility include business secretary, manager, treasurer , assistant treasurer, organizing chair and assistant manager respectively. The responsibility was assigned basing on what each person preferred. Ideas suggested by group members As a group we decided to venture into legal money making business, there were six different business ideas which include, running a fast food shop, running equipment supplies shop, engaging in video gaming business, running a beauty shop, fashion design, interior deco design consultancy. The ideas originated from group member, who after critically examining the situation came up with them. We only needed one business idea but we didn’t want a situation where the opinions of every person were not heard. Idea selection process The ideas underwent through a selection process to identify the most suitable idea that is not only viable but the one we had knowledge about and did not require most capital to start. Critical examination of running a fast food shop showed that there are a lot of requirements needed, such as medical examination report and neither of us has the report or stand a chance of getting it another thing was that it would be expensive to hire professionals in this field. Interior deco design and consultancy was rejected after finding out that the knowledge we have of different design outside UEA were limited also the business is flooded and probably very competitive. Video gaming business idea did not go far since most people nowadays have invested in the business and most expect users prefer playing at home and organizing an online video gaming with remote participants would be costly for us. Fashion changes every now and then, coping with this rate is expensive since it requires that one should heavily invest in the business for goods returns. We therefore ruled out these business ideas and remained with one, equipment supplies business but we changed it a bit to specificity. We changed it to falconry equipment and hobby shop with training facility. Reasons for choosing falconry equipment and hobby shop The idea was viable and that it greatly influenced the choice of there is a cultural association with falcons, Falcons are our national identity, they are on our national emblem, coat of arms, currency and other key national identities and monumental structured of UAE , would like to contribute in the survival of this old tradition. There are also increasing number of falcons in UEA, participating in sports. Number of falcons UEA sports, reared and treated in UEA In January 2014 for instance, Over 1500 different falcons participated in the president competition January this year statistics show that (Itnsource.com, 2014). Statistics also shows that Abu Dhabi falcon hospital receives over seven thousands falcons for treatment every year (Falconhospital.com, 2014). Other sporting promising falcons events, In 2012 Abu Dhabi contest over 500 falcon bird released into the sky totalled to 1554, Abu Dhabi falcon project hatched over 2000 Saker falcon chicks in 2013, January 2014 about 2000 falcons competed at a Fazza competition for falconry and on 11/01/2014 about 1500 birds will compete at presidents falconry cup (Uaeinteract.com, 2014). Falcons Sakers by country. UEA leading by 4000 (Dixon, 2014) The idea was creative in that falconry is inculcated in the DNA of Emiratis and is reviving again, there UEA government is promoting it and there are farms breeding the falcon and selling them to young Arabs, the timing is also right. The business will not only engage in equipment but will also offer training facilities to falcon owner. This will give us an upper hand in the competitive business world. The falconry business will help meet the needs of the growing market of the falconry equipment and satisfy the knowledge gap in the new people doing falcon. Research design Introduction The purpose of the research is to establish the viability of the business of a Falconry shop which shall engage in hobby nurturing equipment Supplies Shop as well as offering training. Research design describes the overall strategy that is implemented with different parts of the study in a logical manner in order to solve the research problem (Libguides.usc.edu, 2014). Background The idea of starting and running a Falconry Hobby & Equipment Supplies Shop is an original idea which germinated from the group members because it is expected that it will benefit not only the group in terms of profit but also the society and the community in general. The idea traces back to the ancient cultural heritage of the Emirates but we incorporate the idea of training. Aims of the study The aim of the study is to, i. Find out the how important the business is to the society and the community, ii. Find out who the potential investors are investors iii. To find out the knowledge gap in the community iv. To find out whom the potential customers of the business are. v. To find out the relevant knowledge and skills required to start, run, grow and manage the business vi. To find out the key factors for success in the region Methods employed Sources of data There are various sources of data they include, Interviews, Questionnaires and Surveys Observations Focus Groups Ethnographies, Oral History, and Case Studies Documents and Records (Cyfernetsearch.org, 2014).The research shall use the secondary sources and primary sources of data collection to get the relevant information. The secondary sources of data shall include but not limited to ethnographies, oral histories documentation and records. We believe these records are rich in information that are that is needed to run and manage the business. This is because the idea has ancient history and some of the information is well kept there. This however will take some time, but planning is important. The primary sources of data shall include people and focus groups. Primary sources of data are important since it will provide first-hand information. Methods of data collections This is the process that involves collecting and measuring information on variables of interest. It enables one to answer the questions such as research questions, hypothesis, and evaluate incomes (en.wikipedia.org, 2014). Data collection describes how the information is gathered. the methods include personal interview, telephone conversation (Ons.gov.uk, 2014), when data is not properly collected there are consequences, in that research questions shall not be answered correctly, mislead other researchers, can cause harm to human, inability to repeat and validate the study (Ori.hhs.gov, 2014).The research shall incorporate a number of methods in data collection. The methods used shall include, Personal interview Personal interview shall be used to gather information from people. It shall be a face to face kind of interview. This important since it will enable us not only get first-hand information bust also help us in establishing a rapport with the interview. It shall be a planned interview where the interviewee shall be informed prior to the day the interview shall take place; this will help since it will prepare the responded psychologically Administering of questionnaires Questionnaires are written questions the interviewer will respond to. Questionnaires shall be used to get information from the respondent. The questions shall be shall be administered and the results, dully filled questionnaires taken back for analysis. This shall be our main data collection technique since, Reaches a wider area therefore a lot of information can be collected from a large number of people in a short period of time and in a relatively cost effective way. Questionnaires can be administered out by the researcher or by any number of people with limited affect to its validity and reliability, results analyzed easily and effectively scientifically , the data quantitative data can be used to create new theories and or test existing hypotheses, the data quantified be used to compare and contrast other research and may be used to measure change, The results of the questionnaires can usually be quickly and easily quantified by either a researcher or through the use of a software package (Libweb.surrey.ac.uk, 2014). Observation This involves the analysis of the situation by the partners and come up with valuable solutions to the problems. It requires critical thinking fair judgment of the observer in order to avoid bias Expectations We expect a positive response from the research. That many people shall be interested and sponsors shall come from all corners since the idea is timely Time schedule Data collection is expected to last for about four days and then analysis of the data shall follow next. Status of the funding Businesses require capital investment capital provides the money for the assets a business needs to carry on its operations, Personal and contribution savings, Family and friends , loans from Banks and other financial institutions ,Venture capitalists Angels Grants (Scorerochester.org, 2014).For business start-up personal contribution shall be used. This is the initial capital. The members shall contribute on an equal ratio basis. Even for investors to invest in the business they first need to see the capital contribution from the owners. The advantage is that capital contribution is easy to get since it does not it does not involve a lot of red tape. This will get our business running without much difficulty. We intend that the business will grow, meaning that we shall not be able to meet the customers need. At this point we shall solicit for other source of funds from external investors or bank loans. Dissemination of the findings The findings will be published or distributed through social media and through advertisement in print media so that people get to know the idea and probably support it.
