The concept of work motivation is correlated to the work context in particular. It also includes the influence of work behavior inherent in workers and environmental forces.

Within the workplace, work motivation is presented as a hypothetical and personal construct that materializes in the form of measurable behaviors. Han, Mubeen, and Ghabshi (2013) suggested that job satisfaction is linked to workers’ own evaluation of their jobs against issues that are valuable to them. Since feelings and emotions are intertwined in such evaluation, worker’s level of job satisfaction may affect their work and personal lives, as a result affecting their behaviors at work.

In the oil and gas sector where companies have recently experienced high turnovers, motivation, and job satisfaction is a crucial industrial topic (Al-Harthy 2007; KenBlanchard 2011). The scarcity of researches in the industry has implied that there is a need for researches on motivation and job satisfaction in the industry.
