The paper “Security Risk Management in Qatar Petroleum” is a forceful variant of a report on management. Nowadays, security risk management has become an aspect of concern for most organizations. Health information has a number of adverse implications if not carefully handled. To manage security risk, different contexts in the firm need to be identified and risk inherent to them also be highlighted.
Risks are further analyzed to note some elements in it like likelihood, consequences, status, and its implication to security. 1 Qatar Petroleum DescriptionQatar Petroleum has many departments that support its activities. One of the departments that play a central role in the organization is the Security department. The department ensures that all data for those who enter the organization is collected accurately and released timely when requested then recovered for storage (Spinellis, Kokolakis & Gritzalis, 1999). The department is always open 24/7 due to the services offered. In turn, security risk management is a critical concern for the Security department.
The security department has over 60 workers in surveillance and records for people and equipment around the organization. The security department is located at the entry of Qatar Petroleum with different offices in the extension of the ground floor. The records are manually kept in files with shelves, desks, and cabinets set for different types of documents. Through the application of ISO 31000 process and principles, this report will deliberate security risk management issues inherent in departmental activities and roles. 2.2 Security department DescriptionThe security department carries the roles of recording information for new and existing entrants.
The security agents record vehicle numbers, people's names, and identification numbers on files. There are a number of important issues about entrants that are noted including; general information, vehicle insurance, updates after 3-hour coverage around the organization, and services departments. Offices are set from that of Manager, Deputy Manager, Coordinators, and security agents. There are a number of coordinators depending on the area of security records dealt with. Some deals with records for vehicle entry, sensitive departments like finance, general service bays as well as other surrounding areas.
Each coordinator attends the fortnightly meetings and oversees the functions carried out by security agents that immediately work under him. There is quite a number of risk management done for the Security department. First, the layout of the work environment has been reviewed constantly considering the equipment, mechanics of work and workplace issues to ensure that workers work comfortably without any mental or physical stress or any other forms of injuries (Spears & Barki, 2010). Areas reviewed include; manual handling, chair and desks, sitting posture and desks, and shelves height, size, and stability.
Secondly, to promote appropriate Occupational Health & Safety, workplace hazard inspection (WHI) was done with five factors examine with the exemption of chemical, biological hazards, harmful substances, and waste as that does not relate to the Security department.
