Running Header: Managing people and organization Student’s Name: Instructor’s Name: Course Code: Date of Submission: Managing people and organization Question One What is the central theme or what is the case trying to address?  Values  Change culture  Leadership  Change implementation  Change management  Values The MTC Company believes in originality as character and quality as a foundation. The company also seeks to maintain a constant development, steady progress and maintaining an outstanding performance in production. Being the largest manufacturer and the leading exporter of textile goods, the company aims at maintaining company values or developing other strategies that will keep the organization stable for example by improving their current system (Muhammad & Aftab, 2009).  Change culture The increasing demand of customers has made the MTC Textile Company change their culture by introducing new automated systems of designing. This is because the previous system of designing was inefficient and therefore not meeting the demands of customers. Manual designing therefore was poor and also time consuming. Management thought that the time used in manual designing could be used in performing other organizational duties which could improve productivity. This led to the changes in the organizational structure as well as establishment of a computer division. This structure was to introduce a new automated designing system where Mr. Ali was appointed the head of creative designing department due to his experience in the introduced  Leadership The organizational leadership is strong for example by appointing a head of department who has experience in creative design. His experience in the up graduation and implementation of automated systems in textile industry has also been valued by the organization since Mr. Ali would ensure that the employees adapt to the introduced system. Mr. Ali is also aware of the best computer systems in the market and he also has experience in the systems since he had implemented the systems in other organizations.  Change implementation Management is facing problems in implementing the new systems. This is because the employees are not ready to accept the change as they have been used to using the manual system of designing. Most of these employees feel that the introduction of new computers is the source of dispersing the workers.  Change management Managers have therefore held meeting foe encouraging their employees to adapt to the system. They have also tried to show the employees the benefits of using the new automated systems in their organization. For example, Mr. Khalil who is the head of the manual designing department has tried to raise many points for proving that the system is good and that it will improve organizational productivity as illustrated by Muhammad & Aftab, (2009). The managers also suggested to the employees to adapt to the system since if it was not good then there was no need of changing. Management then came up with new change elements which included getting rid of the existing employees and hiring new ones. This is because the organization needed workforce with compute skills and also people who can come up with new ideas that can benefit the organization as a whole. Question two Determine how to make things in the case better or how to improve the situation by analyzing the case supported recommendation. In order to improve the current position of the organization, the MTC textile Company should aim at training the new employed workers. This is because the workers could be having better knowledge and skills in working with automated systems yet do not have the knowledge of the market. The organization should therefore ensure that all the employees are conversant with the market and how to produce designs according to the customers’ needs. Management should also ensure that the computer systems that they are working with are of higher quality in order to avoid delays in production and to produce more products at once. The computer system have been said to get stuck therefore not effective in production. To improve the situation of the organization, managers should ensure that quality products are produced and that the workers are completing their designs in time. This will avoid the problem of cancelled orders due to delays. Production of quality goods and according to consumer needs as this will avoid more customers returning back the products as a result of poor designs. To solve the problem of increased competition in the market, the MTC textile company should ensure that workers are effectively trained on how to market the company products. The company should also come up with new strategies of avoiding competition for example by hiring employees with much experience in designing. The other strategy could be using more promotional techniques in order to increase the company’s market share. Customers’ loyalty should be maintained, as this will make clients not to purchase from the competitors. Question three In general how can we integrate OB application to solve organization problem (The rule of OB within the Organization) The analysis of the organizational behavior focuses on how members behave around their workplace, the culture of the organization and how managers ensure that every member agrees with the implemented culture. Organizational behavior generally shows how people conduct themselves within the organization set up. This study will focus on the MTC Textile Company which will bring out the importance of solving organizational problems and how to impress customers in the industry. One of the most important goals that all managers in this industry aim at is caring for their customers which include internal and external customers (Frazee 2004). Organizational behavior is described as a field of study that shows how individuals perform their activities around the working environment. Managers should therefore be in a position of reviewing these activities and checking misconducts in order to improve effectiveness. An organization being a social unit comprising various groups of people needs to have set goals in which every individual aim at achieving. It is therefore important to study the organizational behavior in order to realize the various challenges that face individuals at workplace. Some of these challenges can be grouped into several levels such as the organizational level, the group level and the individual level. The challenges facing the organizational level include productivity where low productivity affects every individual in the entire organization. The other challenge at the organizational level includes lack of effective employees. Global competition is also included at the organizational level and finally is the management strategies The challenges facing the group level include individuals who have problems while working with their colleagues. Some of these factors are lack of job satisfaction, lack of individual empowerment and finally the individual ethical behaviors. Analyzing the organization behavior also helps the employees to adjust to their current environment. This improves corporate culture as well as the financial performance of the organization. The hospitality industry enables the actors to achieve human relations thus making them successful in their day to day living due to their quality behaviors. However the hospitality industry has some disadvantages caused to the mangers. Some of this includes the lack of necessary training materials for the leaders and the staff members. Managers in this organization focus on improving the organizational behavior through ensuring job satisfaction, provision of good working conditions, reducing absenteeism and turnover. In the process of analyzing the organization behavior it is also necessary to study the organizational culture and leadership. The organizational culture is built up by the employees attitudes brought about by the motivation they get within the organization. Fredrick Taylor introduced four ways in which workers can be influenced to perform their roles effectively and efficiently. These ways are in terms of experiments. One of the experiments includes the illumination experiment that described the relationship between quality and quantity of work that would bring about effective productivity. OB application can therefore be integrated in this company in order to manage how people act within the work environment. Question four Find the relationship or the links between the whole concept of OB and management performance. Elaborate your position using some kind of link or justify your references or answer with 4 OB variables. Some of the OB variables include human behavior, culture, leadership and teams. Human behavior Organizational behavior is linked to management performance because one management develops good relationships with their employees, performance improves. Effective people management can be achieved through various ways such as using effective techniques of management for example by conducting performance appraisals where individuals’ acts are analyzed and evaluated as this improves human behavior. Leadership Some of the predominant styles of leadership in this organization include emotional intelligence which comprises of the ability to work with others and being effective while leading a change in the organization. For example, a leader who instills a new culture should ensure that every individual in the working environment is familiar with the introduced culture and the leaders should also give people time to adapt to the situation. The authoritative style of leadership is commonly used in this organization where the leader mobilizes people towards achieving a common goal. The leader also sets a good example to the rest by showing them the right direction to follow. Teams To increase the organizational performance and effectiveness, managers should aim at changing various aspects in the organization. One is that the employees should be respected to enable them improving their efforts. Frazee (2004) describes that employees must feel as part of the firm and should be involved in the decision making process. Culture Corporate culture should also be maintained to improve flexibility. To avoid communication barriers efforts should be focused on the flow of the information and not the quantity of the information. Free flow of information is necessary in every firm as it improves effectiveness thus improved performance. Other factors that managers should consider is to improve customer satisfaction as this improves market share thus enabling the firm to have a competitive advantage.
