Implementing a Church Project of St. Alphonus Church, Nova Scotia Introduction With the indication of a closed church, St. Alphonus church, Nova Scotia wishes to create a strategy that will see it re-open to serve the spiritual needs of the people in the region. This is an old church that was erected in 1916 and is almost a century old. With the changes in technology giving rise to more beautiful churches in terms of design and aesthetic value, the church therefore needs an improvement to continue its operation (McGowan, 2005). To do this, the regulations will be based on the cultural combination of the demographics of Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia is one of the three Maritime Provinces in Canada and it is the island with the highest population of the four that are found in Atlantic Canada. It is the second most densely populated province in Canada with a population of 0.9 million people. The religious combination of people on the island is made up of Presbyterian (27%), Roman Catholic (26%), Baptist (19%), Episcopal (15%), Methodist (10%), Lutheran (1.3%) and Congregationalist (0.65%). The information above is important in reviewing the ability of the people involved to making sure that the church works again (Tuck, 2004). This being a catholic church, the ability to re-open will be based on the high number of the faithfuls, their financial ability and the willingness of these faithfuls to contribute to the regulations set (Slater, 1988). Raising Funds and Budgets to Implementation Program In order to create a new look on the church in order to attract members that are going to use the church for services, there is need to raise funds first (Ferre & Michael, 2010). The funds are going to be used to make several changes to the outlook of the church so that it adapts a new look. Being an old church in the region, there is an apparent reason to believe that it is known to all the people of Nova Scotia. To raise the funds therefore for the purpose of restructuring the church, there is need to make a reach out to the people associated with the church, either closely or having had to take part in activities of the church. For instance, former parishioners can be invited to chair a general strategy that will make it possible for funds to be collected (Solari-Twadell & McDermott, 2006). These parishioners will be collected to come together and create a strategy that will involve all the activities that will make it possible for the church to reach out to more people to source funds. It can be seen that Nova Scotia is an area that has a 26% catholic following and constitutes a large population. Therefore, by virtue of the church being an old and helpful building in the society, it can command a very high gathering of all those who have knowledge of its existence (Eberle, 2013). The church has also played a very big role in the development of inter-communal fellowship at the port. This weighs back to 1919, when the church was built. One of the spires of the church was built by the Pilotage Authority of Sydney. Therefore, there is a close connection between the port authority and the church. There can also be contributions from the port management. Reaching out to these contributions will guarantee no success if there will be no contribution of service by the members of the other catholic churches in the region (Dagher, 2012). The old parishioners, in collaboration with the other churches can organize the energetic youth to take part in funds collection from their respective church branches and the general public in that area and beyond. Therefore, re-building the church will require the services of several of the members of the neighboring catholic churches. Another way of collecting the funds is by creation of activities that will be used to create a leeway for contributions (Farr & Philpott, 2011). Occasionally, there can be an organization to have a kitchen party, a golf tournament and a genealogy fair which will be used to generate funds as an activity which will go towards making of the church re-run. The cape Bretton post is a documentary that can be used to create an awareness program for the community members to get involved. Once the message has gone over to the community, there will be a distribution of fundraising cards to the catholic community in the area to sponsor the program. Therefore, this is the way in which the funds will be sponsored. Beautifying the Church The church is supposed to be beautified so that it appeals to the public (Kuperus, 2011). Given that it is ancient model of 1919, it is supposed to go through an overhaul so that there are aesthetic creations relative to the current generation. For purposes of effectiveness and accuracy, the procedure is not supposed to take a day or two but a between a week and a fortnight going by the renovations that are supposed to be made. According to program planners such a program is supposed to go through an effective management process so that it does not stall. This management team should be made of landscapers, carpenters, painters, a safety supervisor and a communications personality. This will allow there to be good flow of information. Some of the creative creation s in and around the church can be created by reference knowledge from the Halifax design institutions such as Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and Neptune Theatre. These are institutions that provide artistic knowledge and will be useful in making sure that the church gets the best services. They will also make sure that the project all succeeds. The selected committee will do an inspection of the church. This will involve safety, structural, beautification and concerns related to maintenance. They can be guided by an established Property Inspection Shortlist Document (Atkin & Brooks, 2009). On the outside of the church, they will review things like sidewalks, shrubs, and the parking lot as well the general outlook of the whole church. The building exterior that will be rectified will be the roof sides, pavements, light fixtures and the fascia boards as well as all other areas that will require any changes. This will ensure that the side is given back its life as far as the outlook is concerned. As far as fixing parts is concerned, there can be addition of modern exciting fixtures such as fireworks that will be used from time to time in case of a celebration so that there are several alerts about the revival of the place (Neyers, McInnes, & Pitel, 2004). Some people fail to acknowledge a place by virtue of its being inactive. Since the fireworks are a public issue, they will always be a sign the place is functional just once again after all this time. The other fixtures that must be made are the current electrical connections where there is a fault. There is however supposed to be ambient care to make sure that just enough money is used in these projects. However, the most important thing is that the church should come back to full functionality. The improvement of the church is not just supposed to be an interior issue. There are several other improvements that are supposed to be made. Signage is an issue that cannot be ignored. The signage is an indication of the availability of the service area for all the people in the region. The signs that are supposed to be erected include identification signs, the signs to indicate parking areas as well as the highway directional signs so that there are clear indications from a distance that the place is in existence and active (Treu, 2012). This is important in that there are several people who equally have several methods of getting to the church services. Some are visitors who are directed by signs. Some just follow their friends to the place while others go on their own initiative. Regardless of the reason for going, there is supposed to be a clear way of getting to know where the church is. All the above creations in the general view are supposed to happen within the ability of the funds and modalities available. Moreover, before the program is implemented, there are supposed to be a pre-prepared report that seeks to address the approximate costs. These are the costs of hiring the persons that are involved in the creations that will be made as well as the all the material items that will be used in making the changes. The prices can be approximated by effective bidding which will be bound to give rise to the best quality supplier as well as that one offering the best prices. The prices do vary depending on the needs that will be exhibited. In this case, a combination of the old type model techniques and the modern creations will be very relevant in making sure that the church goes back to the combined modern glory and the past appearance (CCH, 2005). For instance, there has to be attractive provisions for the young children as well as maintaining the real look of the church. To get the job done therefore, it will need the services of a very committed and combined formation of the techniques so that all the needs of both children and adults are taken care of. It is therefore important to consider the religious combination of the island. Most of the services can as well be provided by the expatriates from the other respective churches. This will save the management board as well as the amount of money spend on most of the expatriates greatly. If there will be a skill that will require a professional expatriate, then there will be need to get the services of a professional from Halifax. Value of Effective Summons Getting more people back to the church is just more than having a decent building. There are values that have to be maintained by the church so that there are people benefitting from the summons being offered by the church (Fish, 2007). According to The Institute for American Church Growth, people tend to get to a given church based on some given reasons. They allege that 2% of Christians go to church because of a special need, 3% just walk in based on circumstances, 6% go to these places because they like the pastor, 1% also get to go these places either because they attended the Sunday school or are visiting a friend or relative in that region and 79% usually attend because they were invited by a relative and friends (Payne, 2012). From the marketing principles, it is worth noting that people do not buy a product but they buy the benefits derived from the product (Doyle & Bridgewater, 2012). In the same sense, people do not go to church for the sake of it but all look at the benefits they are bound to derive from the church. Once the church comes back to life in Nova Scotia, there will be need to take good care of the congregation and personally reaching out to them in their problems so that they find the spiritual benefit of going to that church. Secondly, there is need to value the fact that the spiritual needs, if not taken care of will make the church remain in the same condition for a good length of time. Therefore, a summon series that meets the lives of the people should be administered and by evidence, the people should attest of the abilities of the church. They should also make up their minds that the church is the right place for them through the benefits the church is offering to their families. This can be achieved by creation of summon series that people would never want to miss on a worship day (Lamb, Hair, & McDaniel, 2011). Conclusion Getting more people to a church is not even an enigma. It is a simple act of psychology that many companies use to buy their products at all times (Nargundkar, 2009). This paper has therefore analyzed the procedure for implementing a church project in Nova Scotia. In light of the same, the paper has analyzed the Nova Scotia region in terms of its position and the religious combination. To the issue of the church project, the paper has analyzed ways of raising funds for the church. This is a project that requires finances and therefore there has to be a source. The paper then analyzed ways of beautifying the church so that it appeals to the people. Lastly, there is need to consider that implementing the projects without having meaningful summons is a futile issue.
