Q1. Describe the opportunities of globalization enabled by internet in a “flattened” world. Globalization has become a significant feature of social, economic, and political advancement. In the contemporary world, globalization has brought numerous changes and contributed to a number of opportunities. Today, people live in a globalized world, with the internet enabling a number of opportunities (Shelly & Rosenblatt 13). One of the opportunities of globalization enabled by the internet is trading.

The internet has enhanced the sharing of information regarding markets for goods and services all over the globe. The internet has created markets; thus, acting as a means of spreading wealth and opportunities across nations. Globalization has enhanced the liberalization of trade among various nations. Global business transactions and operations have become efficient with the invention of the internet. For example, through the internet, traders can advertise their products in markets all over the world (Oz 268).

Another opportunity of globalization enabled by the internet is outsourcing. As a result of globalization and internet, nations have succeeded in hiring specialists and professionals from other countries. For example, the internet has enabled the hiring of professionals who may be knowledgeable in the field of information technology (Friedman 18). Through globalization, organizations nations and organizations have outsourced raw materials for the manufacture of goods. Thus, the internet has enabled nations, institutions, and individuals to acquire what they cannot be able to provide for themselves.

As a result, globalization and the internet have provided employment solutions to the unemployed. Therefore, globalization enabled by the internet has created employment opportunities (Friedman 20). Q2. Choose one of the four major types of information systems; i.e., (TPS, MIS, DSS, ESS) you think is the most valuable to an organization? Why? The most valuable information system is Management information system (MIS). This information system provides essential information for effective management of organizations.

MIS can be regarded as crucial since it involves three essential resources, which include people, information, and technology. A management information system entails a planned system that carries out the functions of collecting, processing, storage, and dissemination of data (Shelly & Rosenblatt 15). The data that MIS engages in entails information for carrying out management functions. As such, this information system can be classified as vital since it enables managerial functions. In addition, MIS also provides information for decision making from both external and internal sources.

Management information system encompasses all other types of information systems; therefore, it can be regarded as the most significant. MIS can also be applied in all levels of management; this makes it more crucial than the others (Oz 5). Q3.
