While IT has immense contributions towards globalization, information and communication technology (ICT) has played a major role in redefining the way modern business is conducted. Perhaps the most valuable contribution of ICT has been accessibility that may be described as “the ability to overcome spatial distance at low transport cost, as well as to gather strategic information before competitors” (Vertova, 2006, pp.15). The importance of technology to the new-age corporate may be comprehended considerably from the fact that the renowned Hilton Hotels Corporation (Hilton) has integrated various technologies in its global operations.

In the light of the fillip that technology adds to modern business activities, this report will aim at analyzing the corporate structure and culture of Hilton, and will subsequently evaluate the technology used by it. It will also assess the strengths and weaknesses, social and economic context, and implications to organizational change in terms of the technology that Hilton uses in order to maintain its competitiveness and to deliver unmatched value. Started with a single hotel that was purchased by Conrad Hilton in 1919 in Cisco, Texas the Hilton Hotels Corporation (Hilton) has grown into a chain of above 3500 hotels that are located in 81 nations and the prestigious portfolio includes the likes of “Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations” (Hilton Worldwide-a, 2010).

This world-famous hospitality group offers the most excellent accommodations, amenities, service, and value to its business as well as leisure travelers. Over the years, the group has expanded geographically and has produced original concepts in terms of the hotel as well as travel.
