This part of management takes a look at ways in which the company would plan, staff, hire, retain, motivate and manage its people for the purpose of attaining corporate goals successfully by way of involving highest efficiency of company staff (Bohlander & Snell, 2004). The field of human resource management encompasses development of methods, techniques and practices for the management of human resources within a wide range of situations. It also develops ways to integrate these resources within the organizational context and the wider company strategy for management of wide-ranging interpersonal issues that might crop up in the organization. The given business is that of a car manufacturing company that is undergoing a scale improvement in business practices. From a regular business of buying from the manufacturer and selling cars on a retail basis, the company is transforming into full scale car assembly and manufacturing business along with the selling strategy. This transformation involves a number of hiring and recruitment processes of individuals with different skill sets so that necessary resources are well utilized with a strong human resource team. 4.1 Staffing For the purpose of business expansion, the human resource management decides to recruit staff that shall have specific skill sets at each level of the manufacturing process, so that the entire production line has specialized and skilled employees (Cole, 2002). In case of this project, the company shall need to hire about 40 new people at various positions and different levels of the employee hierarchy. These employees shall be distributed within the Purchasing, Receiving, Manufacturing and the Sales departments. It is believed that the highest recruitment shall go towards the sale team because it is an enlarged part of the business team. The car manufacturing process is highly automatic and hence, shall not require many people in the manufacturing task (Harrison, 2000). The revamped business has been started afresh and the team shall make use of existing staff as higher level managers while hiring staff posited below them. The breakdown of the human resource management can be expressed as below. Department Details Staff Split Purchase 3 individuals shall be involved with the task of buying raw materials and parts for the assembling activity for manufacturing the cars. The three people shall have roles defined as follows 1 person shall be involved in making purchases and managing different creditors 1 person shall be designated with the role of maintaining stock of raw materials and 1 person shall be involved with maintenance and monitoring of the system database Receiving 1 person shall be recruited for the purpose of receiving from the purchase department The person shall be designated with the role of receiving the purchases, carrying out proper checks for the receipts and also managing a database of receipts for the manufacturing department. Manufacturing This activity will recruit one person who shall be responsible for overseeing well-functioning of the manufacturing activity and assure that all different activities in the process of manufacturing are well aligned. Another twelve individuals shall look into goods transfer to point of sale and warehousing of finished products. The activity shall also hire about 12 people in the warehousing team for the purpose of handling transfer of goods from the warehouses in different regions that are served by Azariah to the points of sales. The recruitment of higher level staff is to assure that the lower level staff who is engaged in the process of manufacturing and assembling car parts are well-trained over the activity and the different tasks are aptly aligned and managed by the supervisor. The different activities that this person has to overlook include assembling of raw materials, painting and finishing and packaging. The person is also to work in close coordination with the warehousing team, which looks into the transfers of goods to different points of sale. Since this is a new division, the staff shall be recruited afresh and each region of sales shall have a representative to cater to needs and requirements of the warehouses under his region that stores the finished cars for being delivered to the showrooms for final sales. The team also ensures final availability of goods at different points of sale for Azariah. Sales This department will involve in conducting actual and final sales of the cars at different points of sale and hence, shall need the maximum amount of staff. For the purpose of the renewed Azariah, the car company shall recruit about 24 people This team shall be catering to various roles. The recruited staff shall be deployed at various points of sales where they shall be responsible for handling back-office for documentation and processing of sales documents, front sales and client acquisitions tasks, and data entry. There shall be a central customer services team that will attend to client queries and complains, comprising 2 people for the task. The rest 22 shall be engaged in the actual sales activity as defined above. (Source: McKenna & Beech, 2002) 4.2 Loading The total costing for the staffing activity has been accounted for in the schedules and budgets and shall amount to USD 24,088, including store costs per unit of the car sold. The purchase department shall have three employees in order to look into purchases, data entry and management of desired levels of stock (Maund, 2001). The manufacturing department shall utilize the staff for the purpose of various manufacturing activities. These include car assembly, finishing and painting of car, car packaging for sales as well as warehousing of these cars for delivery to the final point of sale. The new recruit shall perform the supervisory role and look into the manufacturing process and its functionality so that minimum time is wasted in waiting period and machine hold ups. He shall also work in close coordination with the receiving and the warehousing teams. The warehousing team shall ensure proper storage and transportation of finished goods to different points of sales and maintain a database for such delivery. On the other hand, the receiving team shall look into the receipt of purchased raw materials and parts and make appropriate data entry for the same. The sole staff that was recruited shall be responsible for the tasks mentioned, along with assuring that each item purchased would meet the quality checks and purchase specifications and is suitable for manufacturing. The warehousing department shall entrust one employee for the management of each region, where there are different points of sales under each warehouse. These staff looks into proper stocking of finished goods and delivery of finished goods to their points of sale from the warehouses. The warehouses also maintain a database for tracking the movement of goods. Also, the warehouses have to secure the fact that cars are maintained in good conditions so that they are ready for sale. The sales team is entrusted with the task of making final sales of goods. This involves front end client acquisition and making actual sales of cars at the showrooms. The back office team works over maintenance of the sales records, calculates and sets the price list for stocks and also processes the documented formalities for final sales. The customer service team shall be single units with central control, which shall attend to customer complaints from all regions of sales. The data entry team will maintain records for goods entry and exit as well as document sales details for management use at the central database management system.
