Impacts and Contributions of the Trent Guide Date of submission The shift to a new place is a challenging issue. It is essential for one to have a guide that will direct an individual to the respective places. A guide is useful in familiarizing a person with a new environment, new people, new cultures, and the lifestyle of people in a new place. Trent university project is one of the useful guides that will provide the new international students with ways of adapting to new surroundings of Peterborough and around the Trent.

Research done by the graduating international students indicated that, freshmen and women in the university especially students from the international countries shows have difficulties in getting familiar with the new environment (Great Britain, 2008). International students experience many challenging issues within their first period of stay in a new institution. Among the problems, which the international students face include a lack of information, feeling of loneliness due to absence of friends and families, or homesick.

They also face language barrier problem, managing a big amount of new information, as well as culture shock. The project of creating a guide is a step towards solving the problems encountered by new international students. The Trent guide is helpful to the new students as it will guide them within the new environment. This project of the Trent guide has some impacts and some contributions to both individual and the university at large. The first impact it will have on the university is to improve its services’ recognition and improve the recognition of businesses and services of Peterborough.

This project is an important legacy to the individual behind its establishment (Hachey, 1992). This one-time project will remain forever since it has never been done by any other students. It will help to establish genuine guide for the future changes within the Trent International Program. The other impact it will have is on the future international students. It will offer them a juncture to change the guide according to the real information about the Trent University and Peterborough. The impact of the project will also be on the digital technology since many students will be able to scan the guide information online before downloading it.

This is an implication that online businesses such as the cybercafé business will grow well around Peterborough. The Trent guide is useful because it is not only concerned with certain individuals, but the whole society within and outside the Trent University (Borins, 1994). The Trent guide is responsible for the development of some programs, which are profitable for the international students. During the implementation and the designing processes, the students do many researches, as a result, they get high level of knowledge and experience concerning the development of the project.

Other new students who have an interest in developing their own projects will refer to the Trent guide project. The other contribution that this project will offer to new and other continuing students is that they will refer to it whenever they want to discover ways of developing a project. They will also learn how one handles challenges experienced at the process of the implementation and designing of the project. The possible contribution of this project is the promotion of business activities around Peterborough.

The details contained within the Trent guide are useful in marketing the different business places in and outside the university. References Borins, S. (1994).
