Management XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX MEMO In the field of education and business, there is the involvement of many kinds of plans for the optimization of personal achievements and also for the increased quality when it comes to the occupation world. One of the best ways to attain this is by the use of a professional development plan. This is referred to as a manuscript that is used to scrutinize the state that the person is at the moment so as to know the manner through which to improve the situation. According to Attwood, “The personal development plan generally involves the answering of a few questions or rather self examination by reevaluating to know where the person is at the moment, what their goals are, and the method that they are going to use to reach where they intend” (Attwood, 2006, 137). The report is bound to reveal how my personal development goals have been natured, the actions I have taken and their outcomes. There were a number of problems that I faced in the development of the plan. One of them was in the application of effective creative thinking for apposite solutions. So that my self assessment could have been best, I decided to use the people closest to me for their opinion. I did this by offering questionnaires to my family and acquaintances. This diagnostic method is the one that made me reach the conclusion that I have a difficulty in applying creative thinking in my endeavors and the manner of reaching appropriate solutions. With lack of the diagnostic method, I could not have recognized this hidden problem. This scrutiny of my strengths and weaknesses was very effectiveness in that it was effective in that it helped me understand myself further. After completing the questionnaire part, I moved on to complete the Johari Window. The Johari Window as explained by West is a “method that was used and is still used by scientists to help human beings understand their capabilities better and recognize their mental conditions by acknowledging different areas of the mind”.(West, 2010, 43). The results of this technique matched those of the questionnaires to a great margin as it recognized my weakness in the application of creative thinking and the solution of my problems. The last step that I took was the completion of a Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities and Threat analysis (SWOT). “This SWOT analysis is very effective in establishing the development plan to an optimum manner” (Furnham, 2010, 183). The SWOT analysis just like the other two techniques that I had put into use revealed that I was weak when it comes to my creative. I was found to poorly relate with people when asked questions that required me to think to a larger extent. My strong point was noted to be the point where I have the general thinking ability. “This is relative as many human beings tend to bear greater general thinking ability than creative ability” (Sandler, 2009, 67). My Opportunities are well defined in that I can improve in my creative thinking category by paying more attention. My threat on the other hand is if my general thinking capacity exceeds my creative thinking one. My action plan for this problem involves the sieving of outside ideas. According to Attwood, “sieving of outside ideas is important to assist in the attainment of concentration which is the clear pathway to creative thinking” (Attwood, 2006, 167). Another common problem that I faced was the analysis ability of reports. The upside of this is that it was a problem that I had identified earlier in life and hence I was in the process of resolving it. I face the problem of explaining situations or rather any other matter that I intend to in another language. The action plan in this case involves the consistent study of a language to assist achieve offer a fluent language for effective communication. In the analysis of reports, the way to go bout this is to spend more time in the reading of journals and the analysis of reports. This week I plan on increasing the number of journals that I study and then in the following week, I should spend more time reviewing what I have read. In the last week, analysis of the reports is going to be my major agenda. I also have the problem of effective communication. This is due to my poor social culture. My personality does not necessarily allow me to hang out with many people and hence I do not have a very nice time with people. I am poor at making friends and starting conversations. I am also not very effective in the English language. Stiles explain that “entering social clubs or participating in extracurricular activities that will help meet more people and thus expand the social world” (Stiles, 2009, 56). Moreover, revising my English work and having a tutor will be sure to increase my English skills. Personal ratings against the top ten performers in class. Student Ratings Personal Rating 3.5 1 9.2 2 8.7 3 8.5 4 8.2 5 8.0 6 7.6 7 7.5 8 7.3 9 7.2 10 7.1 Through the amount of time that I have spent in university, the goals have been a priority that has been the foundation of my success not only within the school environment but also in the outside social world. In order to ensure that my goals went as planned, it was very imperative to set up a progress review measure. This was used to measure the amount of progress I made within the given period and also to figure out whether the goals were biased or were attainable. The progress review in the first goal optimization involved consistent memory jogging and trivia questions. This was important so as to ensure that the brain was always active and could be able to carry out basic creative thinking tasks. “The trivia questions are timely and have short deadlines to trigger blood flow in the brain which was sub sequential in ensuring that the answers provided were quality and deeply thought of in a creative manner “(Sandler, 2009, 97). There was also the issue of peer pressure. As I was going about the aim of ensuring that my goal was achieved and that I could be able to credit creative thinking, I experienced a lot of pressure from my friends to indulge in activities such as drinking and other such activities. However, I was able to keep away from the substances they were taking while still being able to retain my friendship. This is due to the fact that outdoor peer induced activities may lead to lack of concentration and focus on what is most important. “Moreover, the alcohol and other related substances do great damage to the brain cells” (West, 2010, 134). Thus I would be risking memory infatuation which would lead to poor judgment and equally poor creative thinking. Creative thinking could also not be achieved by the mere efforts stated above. There had to be the inclusion of attentive thinking. Paying attention brings the mind together and assumes all sorts of interference and thus giving the brain more power to conceive new and useful information. Lack of attention could have meant that a lot of information would have by passed me leaving no content to indulge deeper into. As per the review of the second goal, concentration and wide research are the two main principles that hold for success. The analysis of a subject matter of any case requires in depth research to establish the basis of argument. “It has thus been important to attend the library which is basically the pillar of knowledge“. (Samuel, 2007, 44) Hence, it comes in handy in the final analysis. The research that I have carried out in the library is very important not only due to the fact that it has added me information for presentation, but also because it has assisted me in gaining additional knowledge which is very important. “The diversity of libraries gives so much information that is resourceful while analyzing documents” (Bratton, 2010, 91). This is due to the fact that many of the books in the library come with featured pictures to grab attention and memory. The pictures are the most easily formed graphics in the human mind and hence after understanding a picture and its associated information; I have been able to relay it to the actual work that I am dealing. The internet is one other source of information that has come in handy. This is due to the mobility. Unlike the books in the library which cannot be borrowed all, the internet can be used even when I am at home or travelling. While travelling I may decide to look up some images on the internet related to my topic of analysis and get an in depth view of the issue. Concentration as the other pillar is very important as without it and with disturbance, understanding of the topic under analysis is really hard and may lead to deducing results that are not legitimate. Due to this factor, I decided to wok hard on ensuring that I made minimal personal contact with anyone ad switching off the phone to attain full concentration and to get proper results. With these factors, I have been clearly on the right path to success. My problem of effective communication as a goal is the last one to review. Communication is very vital for the passing of information between people so as to coexist fruitfully. My progress in this case has been getting better by the day due to increased training in different languages “Different languages increase the diversity table to a point where I will be able to meet new people and perfect the language” (Daniels, 2008, 79). While speaking with people of different cultures using their native language, I tend to be left out during the conversations due to my poor communication skills. Other than the communication traits that involve languages, I have also been working on my listening skills. The more attention I pay to what is being relayed to me, the higher the chances of understanding the situation and offering the required answer which serves as effective communication. “The factor of social groups has been effective in that it has helped generate confident and I can now easily blend in with any group or community regardless of their based origin” (Buchanan, 2010, 125). The services of a partner in study has also been effective in that I have been able to learn more on the pillars of effective communication from him which I employ in the preferred situations. “Once the project planning is completed, a very well and diverse manner in which to address the unaccomplished goals should be clearly identified in a broken down form of steps so as to be sure to attain them” (Attwood, 2006, 68). The process of learning, however, does not stop there. When all the goals have been achieved, there should be the setting up of new goals to assist improve oneself both in school and while carrying out extra curricular activities. I will be sure to have a different body physique from all the working out and this will be evidence of a lot of weeks’ effort. “My long term plans include getting fit by ensuring that I go to the gym more often and taking up the responsibility of waking up every morning for a power job which is important in maintaining the health and balance of the body” (David, & Kim, 2011, 76). I should also set to be more of an innovator among my fellow students. The first stride in this event will be by offering to take a responsibility in my class discussion groups. A more intrinsic relationship between me and fellow students is set to be in place. This is due to the fact that without a symbiotic relationship with fellow schoolmates or classmates disadvantages both me and the other students. This is due to the fact that different students have different ideas and when pooled together, increase of knowledge is set. I will show this with my grade improvements.
