DREAMWEAVER LESSONS LESSON Lesson covers the overview of Dreamweaver CC features essential for web design beginners. Dreamweaver was the major focus as it is the best web design tool used and can insert and format text, images as well as media, thereby allowing you to design a web page without using codes. It also addresses the two primary languages used the in web page display, which is HTML and CSS.
Note: Before starting any action on the Dreamweaver, you should ensure you reset Dreamweaver workspace.
The key point to note was html structure and attributes written using an open and every tag closed to ensure its effectiveness in describing the content being displayed. Below is the structure of a web page saved as htm or htlm file.
The common HTML tags identified in this chapter were:
which specifies heading text and must have a closing tag . For instance, Welcome to Dreamweaver!

is used to specify the paragraph text. Should also have a closing tag as shown below:

my text and pictures go here...

displays an image by src. helps in inserting an image on a web page. Example: In the coding environment and text editor, we learned that Dreamweaver uses some scripting languages that helps web designer to develop web page and the applications in their preferred languages.
We learned how CSS uses the nested ordered and unordered list on a web page. The nested ordered list uses the following tags:
However, the nested unordered list uses:
We also covered CSS designer. The lecture touches on Live view and Live code that help in giving the exact review of the web page designed and how visually changing the web page developed will affect the code behind the scene. The first lesson also gives an overview how you can create a hyperlink on a web page. The tag “” was used to create a hyperlink. Use bar to link section of the documents to other pages. For example,
In using HTML5, CCS3 AND PHP, there were some modern features introduced that do not exist in HTML. HTML5 web page must start with a DOCTYPE. is used to declare the HTML5 DOCTYPE.
LESSON 2
In this lesson, creating of a new site took the center stage by defining site setting using Site Setup dialog box. The Servers, Versions as well as advanced setting options used in defining your site. This lecture also declared the DOCTYPE used in HTML5 which is .
The lesson also looked at the format of saving the new site created. The file created should have “html” file format and only special characters such as underscores (_) is used to separate the words. You should save it on one major folder. CSS helps in defining appearance of a web page. You can set background color or link color whichever applicable using CSS. It was important to note that Document Type set to HTML5 is set as Unicode (UTF-8) and that Adobe Photoshop is being used in a tracing image such as JPEG and GIF. We looked at local root folder on how one can copy, select, view or open files from it.
It also addresses graphic file types being displayed by web browsers. The graphic files discussed include GIF that condenses color images and used mostly in areas with flat colors like logos. JPEG format is used in inline images. When inserting a logo/image, use the format. You can then set logo/image width and length. Inserting of Photoshop smart objects in an html form was also tackled.
Use in group-block elements. When using HTML tables use attributes such as dl, dt, and dd in preserving the semantic connections to ensure the nested list is not lost thereby consistent layout.
The tag was discussed where it provides metadata within an html. It describes a document such as authors, date and it is very useful for servers or web browsers. For example, it takes the format “” and must be within the element to help in encoding purposes.
When applying margins, you can use 10px in specifying equal margins on both sides or you can use 8px or 10px with 15px or with 10px as two values. In padding, all padding properties are in one declaration. Its format is padding:
padding-top: 8px;
padding-right: 15px;
padding-bottom: 8px;
padding-left: 15px;} and it does not allow negative figures.
LESSON 3
This looked into the building blocks of websites practically. They include adding of texts and images to web pages which Dreamweaver CC offers. In this lecture, all the steps involved in developing a web page discussed in lesson 1 & 2 are repeated to come up with a web page. It also introduces various styles in HTML and CSS. The major different syntax between HTML and CSS emerges at this stage. The lecture clearly defined that in HTML, tags are being used while for CSS, it is selectors used.
The common style structure discussed in this lesson was:
In text alignment in HTML5, use CSS syntax. For instance, when aligning a text to the left in a paragraph, use

In conclusion, lesson 1 to 3 prepares students with the basic Dreamweaver CC skills as well as html5 skills and how CSS can be used to change the appearance of a web page. It shows how to work with HTML, texts, CSS, formating and how to make hyperlinks. Read More
