The well developed network of host centers also benefits the organisation to trim down its costs. The features like advanced automation and global hosting are greatly helpful for Ericsson to achieve competitive benefits with respect to automated software updates. Amazon EC2 As described in Amazon web services (n.d.), The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) provides scalability within minutes based on a pay-as-you-go method. In addition, EC2 significantly reduces the time needed to get and boot new services instances and this feature enables users to rapidly scale capacity in accordance with changes in computing requirements. While using Amazon EC2, users need to pay for only the capacity they actually use. It also promotes the development of failure resilient applications and avoids common failure scenarios noticeably (Amazon web services). Amazon S3 As notified in its website, Amazon Simple Storage Services or Amazon S3 has been designed for making Web-scale computing easier. Amazon S3 is characterized with a simple Web services interface that has the capacity to store and retrieve huge amount as and when required. The major feature of Amazon S3 is that Amazon provides developers with access to its own highly scalable, fast, reliable and cost effective data storage infrastructure. Amazon S3 specifically tries to improve the advantages of scale. This service is highly flexible so that it is easy to add functional layers further. Amazon S3 Service Level Agreement guarantees the reliability of this service. Here, users need to pay only for what they use (Amazon web services). RightScale RightScale is really helpful for organisations to effectively manage key business-related applications with regard to private, public, and hybrid clouds; and improved configuration, automation, monitoring, and governance are the major features of RightScale (RightScale Cloud Management, n.d.). It performs well in terms of manageability and dependability. As RightScale is portable, it offers greater degree of freedom and flexibility (RightScale Cloud Management). Security concerns for cloud based services As Barnes (2010) points out, there are many potential security concerns for cloud-based services; and among them, major security concerns are data location, data segregation, regulatory compliance, privileged user access, recovery, investigative support, and long-term viability. Possibly, the organization cannot detect the actual location of the cloud as it can be far away from the organization’s physical location. Often, it seems that organization’s data in the cloud are mixed with other firms’ data. Regulatory compliance indicates that the organization is fully responsible for the integrity and security of its own data (Barnes, 2010). Since vendor employees have access to cloud, security level of the firm’s data is challenged. Long term viability is another major factor affecting the security of cloud based services. The ‘layered approach’ can be used to increase the security level of cloud based services (Jordan, 2012). As Barnes (2010) states, the layered approach promotes defense at various levels. First, physical security is necessary for monitoring and protecting the space where servers and other physical equipments are ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Equal access to computing technology

...based services could raise the standard of life of poor and illiterate people. Provide education so that everyone could develop skills to live in a digitalized world Education is the most important means through which we can deal with digital divide. Students can learn necessary skills from schools. So children in all schools and colleges should be provided access to computers and broadband connection. Through education we can deal with two types of digital divide. The first divide that exists in every country between the rich, educated, the powerful and those who are not. In USA 80% of the rich and 5% of the poor have internet access. The rich is more likely to have ICT access than the poor. So the digital divide caused...

...? Flow charts Grade (6th, March. Flow charts Flow charts refer to a diagram that represents an algorithmic process, showing each step of the process, through a set of flowing boxes and other shapes connected by arrows that point to the direction of the movement of the process (Chapin, 1971). The essence of a flow chart is to give a step by step solution to algorithmic or other types of analytical problems. While a set of other diagrams are used for solving data related problems, a flow chart is mostly applied in analyzing, documenting and managing a process (Reynard, 1995). Further, considering that flow charts are easy to understand diagrams; owing to the visibility of the sequence of the steps and the details at each stage... Flow charts...

AWS Case Study: Ericsson AWS Case Study: Ericsson Cloud computing has emerged as the best alternative for both small and medium sized firms as well as big companies in their implementation of Information Technology strategies. This emerging trend in the contemporary world gives companies both attractive technological and financial benefits as well as giving them a competitive edge in the highly competitive environment. Cloud computing involves sharing of computer resources, both software and hardware, among many users along connected computers over a network, mostly the internet (Armbrust et al, 2010). Various concepts employed in cloud computing include software-as-a-service (SAAS), infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS), Platform... ...

Different SPI Models of Cloud Computing

...What is cloud computing? What defines it? Oftentimes, we have heard about cloud computing in schools, offices, workplaces, and even on television but do we have complete knowledge of what cloud computing really is? Perhaps, for somebody who is majoring or has majored computer-related courses in college, or for someone who works in an IT industry, cloud computing would not sound so trivial or intriguing at all but for the laymen, it may sound awkward – clouds and computer together? What relates them? First of all, cloud...

[email protected]: Harnessing the power of voluntary distributed computing

...1. How do the hardware and software architecture of a supercomputer differ from the architecture of distributed computing? The difference in the software and architecture between supercomputer and distributed computing essentially rests on their respective physical implementations. The former involves computing power concentrated in one massively parallel processing facility, where the hardware and software are built to power a centralized machine capable of handling massive load. Distributed computing, on the other hand, relies on a dispersed computational model to handle massive data wherein hardware is geographically scattered, may involve multiple...
