A Special or Unusual Person: Martin Luther King Junior Introduction It is apparent that everyone looks up to a mentor or a rolemodel who inspires him or her to do something worthy in life. This is common in various fields, such as sports, academics, social lives or other sectors. These are the special people in my life and I appreciate their efforts to excel in their specialties or fields. As a result, the special or an unusual person to me is Martin Luther King Jr. because of his efforts to promote social equality.

I admire Luther King for the courage he exhibited when fight against racial segregation and political privileges. He is the inspiration behind President Barrack Obama’s present leadership in the US. Although parents are also special individuals who care for their children, Luther King is an unusual personality due to his abilities and dreams of a better nation. Luther King is my special person because he was instrumental in fighting for the privilege of all races without taking sides during the campaigns.

He ensured that the vulnerable groups would one day enjoy the struggles of fighting for social justice (Jackson, 2007). His dream to see a unified nation where people work and learn in the same environment enabled the country to forge forward along the social and political aspects. This is because he encouraged leaders from all social divides to advocate for their people regardless of the ethnic backgrounds. Luther King also enabled the establishment of a law that recognized all ethnic groups, allowing them to take part in national decision-making activities (Jackson, 2007).

For instance, through his efforts, the minority groups were able to participate in elections and share facilities with the majority persons. This formed the precedence across the world where the minorities did not have a say in the political affairs of their countries (Jackson, 2007). Luther King is also my special person because he brought together people from separate backgrounds. As a result, he was a unifying element in the history of his country, having mobilized people across the religious, political and social groups (King & Ayres, 2013).

He employed non-violent strategies that enhanced the human and civil rights activities. Despite the then administration ignoring his calls, Luther made a speech that revealed his vision for the future of the country (King & Ayres, 2013). Today, I have classmates who are from diverse backgrounds and share with them various activities without discriminative attitudes. America is not experiencing adverse racial prejudice cases because of the dreams shared by Luther for inclusivity. Conclusion A special person is one who has contributed considerable developments in his or her environment, country, family or profession.

Luther King is my unusual person because he influenced a nation free of racial and political oppression. This is because he enabled the establishment of a law that recognized all ethnic groups, allowing them to take part in national decision-making activities. I hope the world will emulate his efforts and support civil rights activities that advocate for the interests of the less privileged in the society. Luther King is an inspiration to many young leaders aspiring to serve their communities.

The motivation to strive for something is the teaching that I gained from this great personality. References Jackson, T. F. (2007).
