Chapter 6 I must say that this chapter about the history of women rights is pretty impressive, well-written, informative and also very touching. First of all I would like to point out that the ambition and courage of all those great women whom I read about in this text made a great influence on me and my point of view about this problem. Do we mean women when we are talking about human rights? And is not it a shame that even the term “human rights” which now seems so simple and well-known to everyone, in fact is a result of such enormous struggle of many different people, people whose power and ambition was so huge and strong that they actually turned themselves from nothing to everything?

It is clear that it is time makes prejudice stronger because after some period people start forgetting what were the reasons and actual roots of the way things are for them now. Most part of the human history, and it is obvious too, woman was a slave, and the worst part was that she did not even know it. And sometimes people say that what you do not know cannot hurt you. But it often hurts and it hurts even more when you do not know why it hurts or when it will stop. What I would like to say is that when some repressed group realizes their dominated condition and also their will to fight, that is when their true power emerges.

Women of America made it possible for women all around the world to feel stronger and more confident, to be ready to fight for their place under the sun.The condition of women during the colonization was truly and obviously horrible, even more horrible taking into account that they were not slaves. Of course nothing good can or should be said about puritans as well as about supporters of slavery because those were the kind of people which fanatically followed false principles (well, let’s not talk about witch-hunting) and it is their bigotry that made false principles seem true.

But here we have historical event that changed everything in historical development.Women’s movement and also its aim of the Abolitionism is one of the proudest and really events in American history. Why? Of course because it shows how reason can overcom blind and sinful laws. But the battle was hard as every battle that worth fighting, I should even say it was mean for this battle to be fought, sooner or later, because the voice of free spirit always whisper in the ears of those who are oppressed.

“That man over there says that woman needs to be helped into carriages and lifted over ditches. . Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles or gives me any best place. And ant I a woman? Look at my arm! I have ploughed, and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ant I a woman? I would work as much and eat as much as a man, when I could get it, and bear the lash as well. And ant I a woman? I have borne thirteen children and seen em most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mothers grief, none but Jesus heard me!

And ant I a woman?” This is one the quotations from the book by Sojourner Truth. It really made me grieve because it is so full of truth and honesty. And also I would like to stress out this piece:“When Emma Willard addressed the New York legislature in 1819 on the subject of education for women, she was contradicting the statement made just the year before by Thomas Jefferson (in a letter) in which he suggested women should not read novels "as a mass of trash" with few exceptions. "For a like reason, too, much poetry should not be indulged.

" Female education should concentrate, he said, on "ornaments too, and the amusements of life. . . . These, for a female, are dancing, drawing, and music."”Okay, it’s Mr. Jefferson and all, but who and how can choose for the half of entire population what to do and what no to do. In my opinion it is just unfair and as a free person myself I say that each and every injustice must be fought with fury.
