The authors provide an exhaustive analysis of the historic events in an interesting manner. The Sicilian Mafia has, for a long time in history, conducted operations in their stronghold areas. By the 1890s, the mafia conducted assassinations from their Sicilian capital base (Dickie 15). The extent of bank fraud executed by the Sicilian Mafiosi in connection with well established officials remains among the most touching occurrences in history. All the negative and inhuman actions and operations of the Sicilian mafia remained unknown to a majority of the society members.

The public knowledge of the criminal group remained hidden to a number of society members. The massive extent of robbery of public funds from local governments remained unknown to many members of the society. In the Sicilian countryside, the mafia remained referred to as an uncivilized notion of honor granted to a section of the society by primitive people in the society. Nostra and Dickie provide an expounding and outstanding description of the happenings in the underworld operations of the Sicilian mafia in their historical masterpiece.

The book, written in after the Second World War, provides an explicit analysis of the connections that aid the operations in the underworld crime organizations. . The choice of the underworld operations of the mafia, therefore, is a vast topic that aids in teaching the readers about systems that operated in various regions of the world. The authors highlight the primary characteristics of the underworld operations of the Sicilian mafia and their American Mafia. The disclosure of the different tokens in the underworld as the protection of money unveils an appreciated amount of information about the mafia operations.

The book outlines the various deals used by mafia members to defy the provisions of the law. The reader learns of the connections that provide protection to bandits and lawbreakers in organized crime operations. Through their connections, members of the Sicilian mafia deals escape prosecution and use their organizational patterns to defy judicial processes, as well. The historic trend of suspicion of mafia members for most of the criminal offenses by most security agencies and the judiciary officials is an issue explored in the history writing.

The mafia groups are the most responsible for a variety of wrongdoings in the society as outlined in the book. Undercover operations have, in history, targeted the mafia members during missions directed at their elimination. The denial from a number of society members of the existence of the underworld business of the mafia is evident among most members of the society. The book functions to clear doubts over the dark operations of the mafia in the society. As learners of history, readers can relate the various historic assassinations and wrongdoings to the operations of the mafia.
