The purpose of this particular research was to seek to understand how childhood eating habits continue to manifest themselves into adulthood and to what specific degree. As such, the authors (AB Becker et al) have sought to weigh and analyze the eating habits of children and compare these together with overall activity levels experienced in childhood with the same metrics in adulthood. This research is particular helpful in helping the researcher and the reader to understand the fact that healthful habits, to include overall nutrition, is a function of early childhood education and not merely something that individuals “realize” at a certain point in and/or seek to change their habits concerning. Additionally, this research connects to the other sources that have been listed below by expressing the importance of perspective with regards to maintaining a healthful approach to nutrition. The article itself goes in depth to determine the ways in which educational improvements can coincide with the health movement to effect a positive change on the way that children engage with the issue of healthful eating and overall nutrition and healthy lifestyles. The authors (to include Curtis Robbins et al) conclude that a more thorough approach is necessitated in order to engage with the population with regards to the changes that need to be effected to increase overall health and nutrition among the young. This article builds on the previous article that has been cited within the annotated bibliography in that it goes in depth to determine the baseline of nutrition that currently exists among school-age children. As the name implies, this particular article focuses on the importance that the home environment plays on the developmental and healthful eating trends that people portray in later life. As such, the authors (Daianne Neumark-Sztainer et al) seek to lay out a framework of how the home environment sets the stage for the way in which psychological understanding of topics related to health are born. Accordingly, the reader is left to understand that the true education that one is given with respect to how to approach the issue of health, inactivity, and diet is formed prior to the educational models that have thus far been referenced above. This particular research is useful for the reader and the researcher in that it helps to further categorize key motivators and trends in the understanding and logic formation of health and healthful eating. In a similar vein, the authors of this next article seek to further analyze the way in which familial concern for nutrition and health is transmitted to children and via what parent this most likely takes place. As one might duly expect, the mother is invariably the mechanism by which such knowledge is imparted. Furthermore, the piece is useful in predicting the mechanisms which work together to form a firm understanding regarding health and nutrition in the mind of the adult. Similarly, the audience/researcher/reader can readily find the information presented as useful to a broader understanding of how individuals seek to define and understand their environment and the health factors surrounding it. This article changes the focus of the previous articles which have been analyzed in that it changes from a personal perspective to a global perspective with relation to how nutrition and health define the world in which we live. Furthermore, the authors (HT O’Brien et al) seek to provide the reader with an understanding of how overall wealth factors in to the way in which different region and different cultures view the topic of nutrition and health. Whereas in the Western world we are oftentimes accustomed to the idea that healthful eating is merely a choice, the authors work to bring about an understanding that healthful eating is oftentimes not a choice among groups of people that are merely seeking to satisfy their caloric needs from one meal to the next. This is of course relevant to the topic at hand due to the fact that it helps to explain the issue on a global scale rather than on merely a personal level. As with all of the other texts which have been briefly summarized within this annotated bibliography, this was taken from a scholarly research journal and upholds to highest standards of academic rigor. This particular article takes the premise of the previous article a step further and seeks to define and differentiate the ways in which overall wealth levels affects domestic choices made by parents and key shareholders within the United States. Although the previous article spend a great deal of focus on the livelihoods and overall ability of other individuals to afford key nutritional benefits, this article focuses on the missing components that exist within the American system as a result of the very same factors. Furthermore, by understanding this key topic, the reader is made aware of how closely overall monetary level and nutrition are integrally tied. Neithercott, T. This article works to show how it is possible to eat healthfully and obtain a high level of nutrition on what can only be described as a shoestring budget. Such an article is important to review in that it shows that although it is difficult to obtain a high level of nutrition on limited amount of money, it can still be obtained if one is skilled in knowing what foods to purchase and how to prepare them in order to maximize one’s benefit. The importance of this with relation to the rest of the information that has previously been analyzed is that it provides a practical citation for the ways that many of the issues and problems that have thus far been discussed can be allayed; even by those that are lower income. Web. 7 Nov. 2012. This particular article works to engage one of the single largest causal factors in the way in which nutrition and health is perceived in our current society. In this way, the authors (Peters et al) work to provide a well reasoned research that shows how the increased level of strain and overall workload that the typical individual today must live with as compared to what was standard 20 or even 30 years ago is highly divergent from what one might expect. Due to these changing levels of involvement with work and other areas of life, the amount of time is a key factor that works to affect the health of individuals within our society. This piece of research helps to tie in to the previous research that has suggested that money is a key factor in determining the overall level of emphasis that shareholders are able to place on health and nutrition. As such, it helps the researcher/reader to understand that there is more than a single causal factor in determining the overall level of difficulty that impedes one from choosing to eat and live healthfully. This particular piece of research is helpful in understanding a view of health and nutrition that is neither the personal view (micro) or the societal view (macro). As such, the authors (Thomas Kyserling et al) present to the reader a case study involving a specific community in North Carolina that underwent evaluation to determine best practices and key items that were presenting specific health problems for the community at large. This piece of research is helpful for the reader to understanding the application of societal conventions on the way that groups of individuals choose to engage/not engage with key issues relating to health. Timothy, P. Gill, et al. "Do We Provide Meaningful Guidance For Healthful Eating? An Investigation Into Consumers Interpretation Of Frequency Consumption Terms." Journal Of Nutrition Education & Behavior 44.5 (2012): 459-463. CINAHL Plus with Full Text. Web. 7 Nov. 2012. The final research that this annotated bibliography has considered is that of Gill et al. This piece of research seeks to understand health and nutrition from a consumer choice model of economics. As such, the former analysis which have been performed with relation to cost and customer utility are factored into this research as a means of determining what yields the customer the highest utility with relation to nutritional choice. This particular researcher intends on using this piece as a means to explain how key deviations from what one might otherwise understand as a customer’s utility occur and for what reasons they occur.
