Hypnosis MethodAbstractThe method segment mentioned above has been prepared in an American Psychological Association [APA] format Psychology paper which offers the methods and processes utilised in a research work or experiment based on hypnosis. The method of hypnosis include the data on the research design, participants, equipment, materials, variables and actions or procedure taken by the participants also has to be provided. This experiment has been done to understand the effectiveness of hypnosis on the youth of modern age since it is reported that today’s generation are highly resistible to traditional hypnosis methods.

This is because of the current education which has made them to question the conventional techniques. The method section of the experiment has been well described in order to permit other investigators to repeat the study or experiment. The method segment should employ subheading to separate various subsections. These subsections typically consists participants, materials, design and procedure.Key word: Hypnosis methods Participants The participants were the students belonging to Concordia College.

These participants were classified into many groups and engaged in a test for a time period of two weeks. Several conferences were conducted. About 16 conferences were held, each one consisting of around 15 students.Materials The materials include a list of questionnaires or forms which were accomplished for the aim of our experiment. The materials required are concerned to measure hypnotisability {accomplished instantly after hypnotic induction]. The hypnotic ability was evaluated with the Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility: Form.

They are listed along with the references. The part A of the form contains the format of bio data along with some queries related to medical background such as psychotropic medication, attention problems in the past, colour-blindness, head injury, witnessed any hypnosis, referred any book regarding someone who was hypnotised, knowing anybody who was hypnotised and have you ever hypnotised yourselves. After this the student is asked to look at a target and write down the things that happened while he was looking at the target.

In the next step the student is asked to write down what he remember currently which he couldn’t remember previously. In the next step the student is given a questionnaire comprising three pages that include 12 special suggestions which were administered to him during the standardised procedure of hypnosis. It says that ‘we would like to figure whether or not you objectively reacted to these 12 propositions, that is, whether or not an onlooker would have noticed that you did or did not make some distinct responses by certain particular, predefined standards.

In this segment we are concerned with estimates of your outward behaviour and not in what your inner, immanent experience was like. Afterwards you will be given more chances to describe your inner immanent experience, but in this segment relate only to the outbound behavioural reactions regardless of what the feeling may have been like subjectively. It is realized that your guesses may in some cases not be as exact as you might like them to be and that you might even have to guess. But we need you to make whatever you feel to be your best estimates regardless.

’Empathy The empathy was evaluated by the social or Interpersonal Reactivity Index [IRI, Davis, 1980]. It is formed of 4 subscales each containing seven questions. The subscales are fantasy, empathic concern, perspective taking and personal distress. Inner dependability range from .71 to .77, test-retest dependability range from .62 to .71.Imagery This ability was evaluated by the Individual Differences Questionnaire [IDQ, Paivio, 1971]. The form consists of two subscales namely Verbal automaticity [65 questions] and ability to create mental imagery [21 questions].

Coefficient alphas are .80 for the imagery scale and .83 for the verbal scale [Hiscock, 1978].Absorption This was evaluated with the differential personality questionnaire [DPQ, Tellegen and Atkinson, 1974]. Inner dependability of .88 and test-retest dependability of .91 [Tellegen, 1982]. Design The dissimilar variables of the study, the hypnotisability, empathy, absorption and imagery and what kind of design used [between subjects or within subjects]Procedure An examiner explicated the aim of the study to the students or participants, the lights were blurred, quiet surroundings and a tape recorder played the voice of a hypnosis expert giving commands such as raising hand, raising leg etc.

We were supposed to answer the questions after the commands either voluntary or involuntary all in attachment, speak about it briefly. Before the study a consent form was signed by each participant.
