Sports nutrition for Adolescence Adolescent athletes have a different set of nutrition needs. They need higher amounts of energy inputs. The femaleathletes need more iron nutrients to speed up the active athletes’ oxygen circulation during running and other active games. Similarly the sports bodies must consume adequate protein amounts to ensure optimum overall physical growth and muscle maintenance. Lastly, active athletes require lots of liquids to keep their hydration levels within healthy levels. Adolescents must consume the required daily amounts of nutrients to stay in tiptop sports level shape. Article 1 Title: Comparison of Coconut Water and a Carbohydrate-Electrolyte Sport Drink on Measures of Hydration and Physical Performance in Exercise-trained Men Introduction The journal article focuses on determining the hydration enhancement levels of both the coconut water and sports drinks (Feldman, 2012). The study focuses on the artificially colored carbohydrate sports drinks. The drinks contain carbohydrate elements. The study focuses on the use of coconut water to increase the athletes’ hydration levels.. Methods and Materials The athletes were either drinking coconut water or carbohydrate sports drinks. The athletes’ exercise performances were then measured. The researchers gathered data on the respondents’ regular exercise routines. The treadmill test was used in the experiment s (Feldman, 2012). Rehydration fills the sports person’s need for water. Another research indicated energy drinks supply energy-boosting nutrients to the sports person (Wilborn, 2012). By consuming lesser nutrition amounts, the athletes get easily tired, reducing their racing speed (Seco et al., 2013). Results and Discussion The findings show that there is no significant difference between coconut water and the carbohydrate sports drinks. Both methods were able to hydrate the sports athletes. Similarly, the athletes drinking either coconut water and carbohydrate sports drink suffered from stomach upsets. Conclusion The results of the research show that both drinks are able to hydrate the sports athletes. There is no significant difference between the carbohydrate sports drinks and coconut water, in terms of hydration of the athletes. Both the sports drinks and coconut water enhanced the athletes’ exercises. Critique The above article correctly shows that the sports athletes can have two alternative hydration strategies. Hydration contributes to better sports and exercise performance. Energy drinks increase speed (Campbell et al., 2013). The article clearly indicates that the sports athletes need various hydration sources to replenish their body’s low nutrient levels. Suggestions It is highly suggested that further research be conducted to determine whether both coconut water and carbohydrate sports drinks have other beneficial effects. The effects include faster exercise and better sports performances. Article 2 Title: Introduction The research focuses on pre-exercise supplements given to enhance exercise performance (Hofftman et al, 2009). The adolescents were given a high energy drink. The energy drinks contain multivitamin and caffeine ingredients. The research determined the effect of the high energy drink on the students’ fatigue, alertness, energy, and focus. Dieting prevents the athletes from gaining weight, sacrificing the body’s vitamin and mineral requirements (Beis et al., 2011). Methods and Materials The adolescents were twelve power athletes. The respondents underwent human performance laboratory tests. They were given 120 ml high energy drinks during the research. The respondents were either given a placebo or a 120 ml Redline Extreme energy drink. Results and Discussion The energy drink improved the focus and performance of the adolescents by supplying the required vitamins and minerals (Seco et al., 2013). On the other hand, the adolescents who consumed water did not generate better sports activity improvements. The adolescents who drank the energy drink were alert and full of energy. The adolescents’ consumed food nutrients, including increased energy boosting carbohydrate amounts, reducing illness and injury occurrences and increased sports performance (Bleis et al., 2011). Another research indicates that different diets and exercise itineraries contribute to the sports persons’ weight loss strategies, delivering different nutrient amounts to each body part (Simboetal, 2013). Conclusion The adolescent sports players who consumed the energy drink generated higher reaction performance. Likewise, the energy drink generated better sports focus and output. Similarly, the adolescents generated higher the energy needed to improve their sports performance. Critique The journal article rightfully shows that the energy drinks are good sports performance boosters. With the energy drinks, the adolescents must drink energy drinks regularly in order to increase their sports activity performance. Suggestions It is highly recommended that additional research should be conducted in this area. The new research must focus on determining the side effects of the energy drinks. The research will veer towards indicating whether the excessive drinking may lead to cancer, diabetes, ulcer, or another ailment. Article 3 Title: International Society of Sports Nutrition Position Stand: HMB Introduction The research focuses on the adolescents consuming energy drinks (Antonio et al., 2012). The energy drinks contains beta hydroxy beta methylbutyrate (HMB). The research delves on whether the energy drinks improves the drinkers’ attention or mental alertness. Methods and Materials The research focused on the adolescents take energy drinks. Energy drinks fill up the body’s need for energy nutrients (Seco et al., 2013). One of the most popular energy drinks is coffee. The research delves into coffee’s caffeine ingredients’ energy boosting properties. Results and Discussion The results indicate some significant findings. The energy drink was able to stimulate the volleyball players’ greater weight and lean mass gain. The amino acid content substance contributes to stronger body mass, bones, organs, as well as the affected muscles. Finally, the diet supplement reduces the tired and exhausted Athletes’ sore body areas (Antonio et al., 2012). Dieting reduces weight by reducing the body’s nutrient absorption (Beis et al., 2011). Conclusion The substance helps the adolescent volleyball players increase their strength as well as their hypertrophy. The substance shortens the time needed to repair sports- worn muscles. The substance works best when taken 30 minutes or longer before engaging in the sports or exercise activities. Critique The above article correctly states that the substance, HMB. The substance improves sports performance. The substance can help in the recovery as well as strengthen the athletes’ muscles and bones. Consequently, the athletes must avail of the recuperative powers of HMB Suggestions Additional research must be conducted to determine the side effects of the product, HMB. The research will determine if the product has debilitating side effects. Similarly, the research should determine the optimum amount of the product needed to ensure peak sports performance among the adolescents. References: Antonio et al., (2013).
