In an attempt to understand the causative agents behind a particular problem, or finding out the reasons behind occurrences of certain events in an organization, research has to be applied in this context. Evidence that traces its roots from research has been indicated to best measure improving existing systems or issues in a certain organization. According to Beam (2002), it is as a result of research evidence that policy makers and concerned stakeholders have managed to instill change in various organizations. This essay shall aim at highlighting the role of research in the advancement of radiography, with an incorporation of relevant literature in the topic. The field of radiography encompasses numerous novel technologies that keep on emerging with time. In this case, Crewson & Applegate (2001) indicate that it is vital that this field takes part in research so as to be at par with the up-and-coming technologies. Through research, the radiology department will be in a better position to manipulate the new technologies to their advantage. There is a great likelihood that through research, working in the field will be made much easier, as the radiologists are much more exposed to methods of carrying out their duties in an easier way. In the field of medicine, it is vital that constant research is conducted so as to be at par with the current system. Radiography, being part of the field of medicine, must always include research by collaborating with other stakeholders to increase the involvement of other concerned sectors to improve the field. The concepts of imaging technology, tomography, and ultrasound amongst others can only be introduced in the field of radiography through comprehensive research in this area (Crewson & Applegate, 2001). Conversely, Blackmore (2001) indicates that research allows radiographers develop cooperation and assistance from other faculties in the radiography department. Apart from consultations made in the radiography department, research also links the department to other fields that involve research in medical imaging. Research in radiography has been more directed to qualitative research since hypotheses formulated are scrutinized in a manner that the experiment conducted results in tangible evidence. In a situation where radiographers develop questions which later develop to practical investigations, it has been indicated as the first step towards coming up with the best solutions towards issues that may arise in the department. Blackmore (2001) indicates that research that begins in this manner is bound to come up with new ways of dealing with issues that may be existent in the radiography field. From a practical point of view, research in radiography has enabled radiographers come up accurate images that can be useful for metrical and morphological investigations. This type of research is referred to as osteological research. In fact, analysts indicate that this field requires a lot of research so as to have adequate measures to weigh accuracy of research by radiographers. From a layman’s point of view, research is useful for progress in any institution. This statement holds much importance in the field of radiography. High quality research is inclusive of accuracy, commitment in collecting information that pertains to facts in radiography (Applegate & Sunshine, 2004). Research in radiography has been indicated to motivate radiographers to find out more on the basics of their areas of study. To prove this fact, studies indicate that the number of radiographers that have taken part in research is on the increase, as well as the majority of them is enrolled in courses that relate to research and advance their careers. In the field of medicine, research always aims at coming up with solutions to existing issues. It being a crucial field, researchers cannot work with procrastinations, but have to devise means of dealing with problems with immediate effect. Radiography, being part of medicine, cannot be successful without incorporation of research methodologies. Despite the fact that the entire process may be challenging and expensive, it is the responsibility of managers of a radiography unit. Research has been attributed to coming up with immediate solutions towards problems in the radiography department. This is of benefit since the data collected is valid and can be applied in various contexts and can provide accurate results as compared to decisions made as a result of assumptions. Since the field deals with the health of human beings, research cannot be evaded by the radiographers. According to Krestin (2009), research spares not only individuals from making poor decisions, but also organizations. In radiography, there is a great likelihood that the radiographers may be exposed to misinformation while carrying out their normal chores. In this case, the radiographers must constantly be on the move to carry out research that will allow them to fit in the changing needs and demands of the field. This is only possible through improvement of information acquired in the past by the radiographers. Through interaction with other medical practitioners in the course of research, the radiographers end up advancing their skills in the related field. Conversely, through research radiographers are in a better position to give explanation to facts that are seemingly too challenging to handle through mere observations. At times, certain experiments conducted in the field do not end up with the expected results, like in the previous experiments. It is in this case that the individual will carry out research so as to find out if all situations apply to varying contexts. It is, therefore, justified to argue that research is useful for minimizing inconsistencies that emanate from erroneous or extraordinary occurrences. Research allows radiographers to come up with solutions that are applicable in new situations that may arise in the case of research. The likelihood of issues coming up in the organization is minimal, and in case they surface, the radiographers are well prepared to handle any situations that may arise. This is an interpretation of the fact that results and evidence from research are applied in the current situation or any other eventualities within the context of study. Through research, it is possible to make out if the radiography department is on the right track in terms of provision of the necessary services to the beneficiaries of the services offered. Radiographers are able to make the correct decisions on the viability of their investments and whether the department will stand the test of time, in case of long term operations. Questions on the potentiality of the radiography department act as the blueprint of operations by the radiographers. Conclusively, from the research conducted above, it is warranted to argue that research is the basis of operations of all forms of organizations. Through research, the concerned parties are reduced to coming up with quandaries that drive them towards finding solutions to existing problems. Research has also been seen to put organizations at par with the novel technologies that are emerging with the day. In this case, research can be indicated to be the reason behind successful operation of organizations in various sectors in the society. Since radiography requires up to date details on its operation, it is the responsibility of radiographers to always be on toes in terms of conducting research in the organization. The radiology field can only rebrand its image and focus on its weaknesses and methods of improving such situations through carrying out research.
