Admission Essay It is of utmost desire since the early years that I impart contribution in thefield of medicine inclined at improving general health and quality of life in the society I live in where I have frequently encountered people with poor sanitation and health practice. As a primary driving force, it encourages me to plan on proceeding to higher learning of professional approach in efficiently promoting public health measures to address health issues from case examination to prevention and treatment of either physical or mental ailments in which administration of remedy can be made by endorsing the right attitude or lifestyle to be fit and sound. Knowing that the competency-based curriculum of postgraduate academic community for public health possesses an educational method that enables each student to gain mastery of the preferred area of specialization as such, through a sequential and well-designed integration of subjects, I hope to seek optimum progress with my foundation of science and relevant courses including application in pursuit of a Master’s degree in Public Health. During my undergraduate years, I had essentially completed general chemistry courses 1 and 2 along with organic chemistry from which I acquired sufficient understanding of dimensional analysis and theoretical concepts of chemical reactions and syntheses. Through rigorous experimentations in biology and microbiology courses taken, I had been able to gain further insights on developing scientific attitudes the habitual manner, finding that a methodological nature of handling work in biological sciences is earned via constant exposure to laboratory operations with the right instruments. It had been quite tedious back then but our cautious and studious efforts paid off on getting accustomed to different procedures requiring certain analyses that are normally capable of determining or verifying how consistent theories are with the implementation of their counterparts in reality. Similar undertakings with anatomy and physiology which were responsible for my full comprehension of structures and functions of living systems have shaped my potential to analyze problems in biotechnology majors. By the time I reached biotechnological studies proper, I realized having to deal with critical thinking at depth for most subjects pertain to combined disciplines of biological science, medicine, and technology. The curricular settings of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in this course at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Nigeria, had allowed me greater access to a variety of academic resources in biotechnology and certain fields that occur useful in relation to this particular area of study. Besides a wide range of textbook references, science journals, medical articles, and a complete electronic database detailing scholastic online references had altogether assisted my endeavor in doing research and creative reports. Utilizing the school’s well-sustained facilities for the course, I was able to yield to an extended capacity for laboratory functions where I found it significantly conducive to perform experiments, interpret outcomes hereafter, and become progressively independent at formulating results which satisfy curiosity and clarify doubts made through educated guesses. My personal laboratory experience of Health and Medical Sciences at Houston Community College in 2011 was fulfilling as well to the extent that it increased my appreciation of medicine with applied science and the analytical skills cultivated herein, apparently, can be of huge advantage in my aim to establish a serious career in public health. My previous institution taught us how to properly carry out independent research both as an individual and as a team and in this process, I have realized how delicate medical tasks could get based on the way we managed with assorted projects or assignments. I have discovered the real value in cooperation among group members. At first, it seemed difficult to adjust to the mindset of the rest of the team members considering the diversity of backgrounds they came from but eventually, as everyone could sense some degree of complications which necessitate collaboration of varied competencies, each member learned how to listen and be more open to accept views of others. With the past experiments conducted, I tried to set expectations higher than the course required and as a result, it motivated me to develop the habit of passionate hard-work, focus, resourcefulness, and the desire to excel especially in my major courses. Moreover, the time and thoughts spent on activities beyond the curriculum have made impact in my flexibility to reach out and have the heart in caring for the needs of other people. This way, I could without doubt be eligible in partaking with the vision the postgraduate academe has on living up to its principles of genuine service as I take the opportunity to become increasingly equipped with the right values besides the pertinent knowledge and skills toward enhancing public health and care by innovative other than basic means. Working with Hont Global Services Inc. since 2007 has additionally challenged me to raise my level of adaptability to cope with human relations under various situations of freight forwarding. Though the company’s primary goal is far from dealing with health concerns, it maintains that each employee should see to it that services and assistance are delivered with the highest level of personalized customer care possible. To me, this is truly essential and more than troubleshooting client-specific problems and finding real-time resolution to disputes, sincerely caring about people with personal touch makes a remarkable difference in any type of industry. I know that being capable of this behavior as a trait would help me as a health professional to empathize deeply with future patients or sick individuals who might need time and concentrated affectionate attention. Because each customer was unique, I had learned how to deal with a broader scope of issues that stretched my patience in several ways while listening to and understanding them wholeheartedly. In the similar manner, I can consider taking the benefit of this attribute during my time at school later with fellow students who likewise seek after achieving master’s degree in public health. I am fully aware that it is going to take dedication and an ample amount of restlessness to embark upon masteral studies. Nevertheless, I possess the solid objective to serve my community through a medical mission that brings about full measure of health consciousness to all members so as to gradually drive away every probable source of deteriorating health. I believe that a person is at least responsible for abolishing one’s own ignorance or misdeeds over fundamental application of cure and prevention of disease for which health workers ought to provide sufficient aid by means of disseminating model health instructions and actually demonstrating them to be followed. On becoming a public health specialist in the near future, I highly anticipate being in a master of public health program that fosters an atmosphere of experiential learning where I can balance operating between independent and collaborative set of abilities suitable for the field. As much as possible, I would make it a point to incorporate relevant knowledge and skills of the past and be able to share strengths derived from both academic and nonacademic influences. Based on extensive training, I look forward to the acquisition of hands-on practice concerning public health and environment, legal issues in health care, principles of epidemiology, biomedical applications, and other related areas or whichever satisfies the assessment of my qualifications upon admission. Eventually, this should enable me to decide exactly which medical career option would best align with my original aim of professing to respond to the requisites of community health welfare. I would certainly utilize resources to find out how else the rest of the curriculum could offer tools of comprehending the essence of my course and work diligently with professors, academic partners or groups, administrative staff, and even people outside of the academe in order to explore further means of attaining success in public health education. A number of communities particularly those of the third-world nations have unsurpassed health crises and this inevitable fact would not work its way out of its own wonders so I think of at least sharing my own sense of medical professionalism to help my community combat and reduce cases and risks of ailments and their typical growth rate of contagiousness, respectively. Hopefully, this endeavor can generate values I have yet to recognize in the process of completing the course and radiate inspiration for my colleagues to also take the heart of not just doing the job as it is but treasure wisdom and profound commitment to quality of medical service with authenticity. I am a strong-willed person who could go miles of extending efforts when necessary and can make others feel that I am greatly reliable in terms of accepting delegation with critical or sensitive tasks on hand. So far I have had no records of unaccomplished assignments and though there are weak points to still deal with in my character, my struggle for a more positive attitude in life has never paid regard for quitting to be part of any steps in learning. Tension in any field of work is of varying degree by nature I know and often I have with composure managed to handle tasks no matter how strenuous, always bearing in mind my long-term purpose of love for health service.
