The hazards which affect school-age children are not only found at school but also at home. These may in one way or another contribute to problems that affect them later on in life. The way these problems are handled is very important and would either lead to the normal development of the child or would affect them psychologically physically or emotionally. It is the role of caregivers, teachers, and parents to ensure that their children are brought up in a safe environment. They must learn basic ways through which they can ensure that their children are safe.
These methods are very simple. Some of them include the basic things that can be done at home while others may require a little effort not only from the parents but also from other stakeholders. Therefore it is not only necessary that measures are taken to help promote a healthy environment for children but also people should learn the basics in the first place that will help them provide and maintain a healthy environment for school-age children. The UN and various agencies on childrenThe world health organization is the international body that is concerned with the health and well-being of people around the world.
The organization promotes the implementation of measures that are aimed at ensuring the well-being of the young and the old. These measures have been implemented the world over in order to promote health and wellbeing. Children are not left behind in this exercise and the organization has continuously come up with measures that are aimed at protecting the interests of the children (WHO, 2012).The UN body that is specially created to take care of children is UNICEF. The organization is a driving force with the purpose of building a world in which every child’s rights are realized.
The organization believes in nurturing and caring for children because it believes that they are the cornerstone of human progress. The organization was created with the purpose of working with other stakeholders to overcome the challenges that “poverty, violence, disease, and discrimination bring to a child’s path”. The organization advocates for measures that are aimed at giving the child the best start in life because of the belief that appropriate care at the youngest age forms the most basic and strongest foundation in the individual’s life (UNICEF, 2011).
UNICEF is involved in a number of activities some of which include the following: child advocacy for a better start to life; promotion of girl’s education as a basis for care for future generations; acting to help children get immunization against common childhood infections so as to prevent them from death or illnesses which are preventable; etc.
