I have attended to patients' needs; this in turn has rewarded me with a deep sense of satisfaction. My joy is renewed whenever they smile and tell me how comfortable they are. During my experiences I have had the opportunity to observe medical and dentistry checks along with participating in discussions and was able to consult doctors regarding a career in health. This has provided me with an enhanced understanding of the working environment, as well as demonstrating the importance of teamwork between healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients received the best treatments and care.

Having the opportunity to speak to patients on a one to one basis, I was able to hone my communication skills towards the patient and their situation. I was truly inspired by the staff, especially their compassion, dedication and honesty to persist in challenging situations both mentally and physically. I spent the majority of my time assisting dental patients. I found this to be a very rewarding position and would like to pursue it in the future. But I would also like to spend a little time in this letter describing another issue relating to healthcare that I find very important: mental illness.

Mental health is one of the biggest issues facing the world today. Only in recent years have practitioners and the public come to consider mental issues as the public health problem that they truly are. We are seeing a big shift in the definition of these problems and where and how they should be dealt with. Public understanding of this issue is unfortunately still at an early stage. We need to dramatically increase the amount of information and education out there on this issue. We need to know when such things become a problem and when they should be left alone.

Mental health is an issue that affects all of us and must be taken very seriously by all of us. The worst thing about this problem is that it disproportionately affects the vulnerable. I believe we need to help educate people in order that society as a collective begins to assume more responsibility and helps these people more. I believe in helping people and giving back to the community. We are each of us our brother and sister’s keeper. The more that people understand that the more they will understand what motivates healthcare providers.

Throughout my statement thus far I have given you a bit of a background of who I am. I’d like to take it further and give you some examples to back up my statements. These examples will further show you why I would be an excellent candidate for your program. They will also show you why it is that I am hoping to be accepted at one of the best healthcare programs in America. I have taken great interest in my school’s affairs. I have been involved in many extra-curricular activities including student council.

All the while participating in these activities I still remained devoted to my studies and was able to balance these studies with a social life, my volunteer work, and an administrative position. I was able to represent my peers and worked hard to bring forth and help mend rising issues throughout the university. I truly believe that I could be an asset to your program. I am a natural multi-tasker who has the ability to succeed and reach the top in each situation. I
