Sexual Abuse of Women in the Military One of the ways of handling a challenge is not running away from a challenge. The best way is facing the challenge head on no matter the intensity. For a long while now, military women have gone through intense challenges that have forced some of them to resign from their jobs. This is not among the best ways of approaching challenges. Whenever a challenge knocks, it is important to remain strong. When military women face such challenges, it is important to stay strong, not only for them, but also for the country. When one faces a challenge head on, there is some growth that takes place. This growth helps the person to face related issues even in a future. There are a number of sources of security that these women can make use of (George, 78). 1. The government One of the chief obligations of the government is to protect the military women. For a while now, women have been looked down upon. Today, things have changed. For a good number of past centuries, women have been seen as people who are not able to go through some training that men go through. Some of these trainings are those from the military angle. Whenever one would say that they want to join the military, they would be seen to be out of their minds. Today, things have highly changed. In the US, we have a good number of women who are in the military and doing very well. As a result of the stereotype that has been there, these women are not protected enough, and they are exposed to a number of threats. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the government to protect these women the way possible (Marcus, 29). One of the major ways of protecting these women is by ensuring that there are funds that are allocated to finance any resource that they need to work with. There have been times when military women have not had the resources that they need to work and carry out their duties. One of these resources is effective guns as well as bullet proof vests. There have been cases where military women have been killed in a war because they lacked bullet proof vests. On the other hand, the supervision in command must give out rules on how the military men should protect military women during wars. There have been times when military men have actually taken advantage of the women even physically. The government should rise and put rules and regulations on how these women should be kept safe. This even extends to the places that the women have been allocated to stay. Some of these places contribute to the fact that the women get molested. Some of these women are forced to share small rooms that have poor ventilation with the men. This is roughly an aspect that the government should be able to look into and give the required assistance. This is by building good infrastructure for the military women. These are people who should be highly protected since they have given their lives to serve the country. In return, the government should be there to support as well as protecting them to the highest degree as possible. Any fellow military man who is found to be molesting the women should be imprisoned for life. This is because; the military man is so selfish to the point that he cannot appreciate a woman (Julie, 56). On the other hand, this is a violation of one's rights. Military women are also citizens. It is the duty of the republic to defend the rights of the citizens. One of the rights that have to be fought for and embraced is protection. Every citizen should enjoy security and have the freedom of doing what the is supposed to do, without anyone threatening him. Therefore, a military man who tries to assault a woman has broken the right of a citizen and fellow military. On the other hand, this assault is an offense that should send anyone straight to the jail. This is an offense that is highly prohibited in the United States of America. When it is coming from a fellow military person, then that person should be sentenced. The government has a lot to do so as to ensure that these military women are safe. The government should be able to the military women on time. Most of these military women have families as well as children to take care of. Therefore, the salary should be paid on time to make unquestionable that the families are comfortable. There has been an issue that the military men get high salaries than the military men. This has given even other people, not only the military men, to assault the military women. One thing that should be made clear is that both females and men in this classification have given out their lives to serve the country. This is a risky job and according to research, only the brave go for such jobs. Therefore, the women have taken a risk even to involve them in such a job. Traditionally, a woman was meant to stay home to take care of the household. The duty of the man was to go and gather wealth. Today, things are different. Women are out there to serve the country. Therefore, the government should congratulate the women by paying them well, if not better than men(Sarah, 67). The women should help themselves When there is a stereotype that is negative, it is the duty of the person from that group to work against that particular stereotype. Therefore, it is the liability of the women to arise and fight for their rights. Some of these women get assaulted because they go quiet after that happens. It is important to stay aggressive and brave when such a thing happens. If one does not have the governor over what happened, then it is her duty to report such a case immediately. Additionally, these women have gone through tough trainings that the men have gone through. Research shows that, military women are even in a better position to stop anyone from assaulting them as compared to men. One of the things that they should use is the brain; God has blessed women with super minds that can multitask. When this gift is combined with what has been studied in the training ground, than the woman is in a better place to fight anyone who tries to assault her. This starts with making a decision and believing that you can. Research also shows that, most women are able to achieve a lot when they put their minds on anything. This concentration is needed even in such a case (Mark, 38). Counseling stations For those women who have gone through such traumatizing moments, it is important to visit a counseling station so as to get the appropriate therapy (Mark, 37). 2. Strategies The government The government has all it takes to protect the women. One of these resources is money. Everyone pay tax and this tax is majorly used in developing the country. Therefore, helping the women is part of developing the country. Funds should be allocated to protect the women in a way possible (Liz, 67). Themselves Women should have a session where they will be able to comprehend the strength that they carry. The knowledge that they have and the gift to multitask should highly help them in overcoming this challenge. Family and friends can also help in this by providing efficient support to the military women from the family. Moral support is very important in achieving anything in life. Counseling Effective counsellors should be employed so as to help the citizens who have gone through such cases of assault. On the other hand, ladies who have gone through such experiences should be encouraged to visit such centres. 3. What is happening to the military women There has been a history of military women getting assaulted. One of the goal as to why this has been happening is because most people do not believe that women can make it in the military. Some of the people who assault them are their fellow military men. There has also been a history of military women being looked down upon as objects and not being in a position to deliver as military men do. As a result, they are intimidated to the point of not being taken care of, thereby being assaulted. On the other hand, a number of these women have believed in the stereotype. Whenever such a thing happens, they never report. Their salaries are not as good as required. Though they have been employed to serve the nation, they live terrible lives and are not able to support their families comfortably. As a result, such cases have increased day by day (Mary, 34).
