Strip foundation:

Strip foundation is the simplest foundation used to construct medium weight construction or structures when the subsoil conditions lest type of founding (bearing capacity of the soil) are relatively bad. Building requiring shallow foundations in relatively firm grounds may also require this type of foundation.

Raft foundation:

Raft foundation is a type of foundation in which the entire structure or building is constructed on top, this type of foundation is far more expensive than a strip foundation in terms of materials and the initial cost, it is used in very unstable soils that are soiled with very low bearing capacity, for example, structures above a swamp or on expansive clays. Rafts are good especially for areas experiencing massive settlement and displacement of the subsoils. Therefore the structure moves in relation to the displacement direction of the soils.

Deep strip foundation:

It is a type of foundation similar to the strip foundation but the depth of the strip differs whereby in the deep strip the depth of the strip is deeper, they are used to carry large weight buildings to the subsoil.

Trench infill:

It is a type of foundation in which mass concrete is poured into excavated trenches; these trenches are accurately cut to the size of the foundation required. These are used under simple buildings on stable grounds. They can also be used in soils that do not contain expansive minerals like black cotton soils.
