Answer each of the following questions, then resave the file along with your answers and turn it in using the assignment link in Module 3, Activity 4. the first four problems are worth 10 points each. Problems 5 and 6 are worth 30 points each.
1. If the original sample is 48, 55, 43, 61, 39, which of the following would not be a possible bootstrap sample? Explain why it wouldn’t be.
a) 48, 55, 43, 61, 39
b) 43, 39, 56, 43, 61
c) 55, 48, 55, 48, 61
d) 39, 39, 39, 39, 39
Answer A. Because the philosophy of bootstrap is to replace the original population by the empirical population. The population in A is the same as the original.
2. The following bootstrap output is for mileage of a random sample of 25 mustang cars.
Based on a 90% confidence interval, which of the following would not be a plausible value of the population mean, µ? Explain why it wouldn’t be.
a) 60.01
b) 80.01
c) 55
d) 52
Answer B. 80.01 is a distribution value for the 95% confidence interval.
3. Which of the following p-values would provide more evidence in support of the alternate hypothesis and against the null hypothesis? Explain your answer.
a) 0.15
b) 0.85
c) 0.009
d) 0.05
Answer C. 0.0009 because it is less than 0.01. Most cases the null hypothesis is rejected when it is less than the alpha significance level (.05 to .01).
4. In a sample of 56 addicts, 28 were given a new drug to help them overcome their addiction, while the remaining 28 were given the current drug. The following is the output from a randomization test for the difference in the proportion of addicts suffering relapses.
a) What is the difference in proportions in the original data?
b) What is the p-value and what does it mean in terms of this specific problem?
4.
a) The difference in proportions is -0.21428572.
b) The p-value is less than .0001 thus it is extremely significant
In StatCrunch Assignment 1A, you selected a random sample of 30 StatCrunch U students and gathered some survey data regarding those students. Use the StatCrunch data file you created to complete the remainder of this assignment.
5. Construct a bootstrap distribution of the credit card debt data from your sample using 3000 resamples.
a) Paste a copy of your distribution here. (With a PC, you can press the control-alt-fn-F11 keys to copy the window showing the distribution.)
b) What is the mean of your original sample?
c) What is the 95% confidence interval estimate of the population mean obtained from your bootstrap distribution?
6. Suppose you want to compare the amount of credit card debt for males and females. The null hypothesis for this problem would be no difference in the mean amount of credit card debt for males and females and the alternate hypotheses would be that there is a difference in mean amounts of credit card debt. Conduct a randomization test for two means with 3000 randomizations. (Your input menu should be as follows.)
a) Paste the output from your randomization test here.
b) What is the mean difference in credit card debt of the two groups in the original data?
c) What p-value did you get in your randomization? Explain in the context of the problem what the p-value means.
d) Do you think the data support the null hypothesis of no difference in mean credit card debt between males and females or the alternate hypothesis that there is a difference? Explain your answer. Read More

...?Running head: FOREIGN DOMESTIC INVESTMENT 8th November Vernon’s product life-cycle theory of FDI was developed by Raymond Vernon. According to the theory, a firm starts by exporting its products after which it emulates foreign direct investment. The theory maintains that when a new product is introduced by an organization, it is intended to be produced at the home in order to place it close to the consumers. As the production of the products continues due to the high demand at home, they become mature and the firm starts to export to other countries where the demand for the products is high. Good judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment. Interestingly enough Rita Mae Brown takes credit for this quotation, however Jim Horning (ND) claims the author is unknown. Barry LePatner (ND) claims it is his quotation. In laputan (December, 2003) it is stated that many have purported to attributions and that it goes as far back as Mark Twain.
Good judgment comes from experience. When having to make choices and finally having to decide, rather than tossing the coin, brainstorming is a good way of being able to make these decisions.
It would be superfluous to mention that brainstorming has been used by experts in different fields, such as: the military, education, business, and government, t...

### Personal Choice: A Comparative Analysis

Published in 1915, the poem’s elements of individual freedom and choice owe much to the nation’s foundational thought that can be traced from Thomas Jefferson to the very core of Ralph Waldo Emerson and can even be seen to embody a European existentialistic spirit. Today, Frost’s poem represents us all, whenever we face the diverging paths in our own lives.

The essential symbolism behind The Road Not Taken is the freedom of choice. Frost advances this metaphor by comparing the decision-making process to, “Two roads diverged(ing) in a yellow wood.” It’s notable that Frost uses the ‘roads’ for his symbolic task over the perhaps more clichéd choice of ‘paths&rsqu...

### Rhetorical Analysis of Obama Inauguration Address

Not only was the Republican regime of the two Bush Presidents now formally over, but for the first time in history an African American man was taking on the highest and most powerful role in America, and arguably also in the modern world. The weight of history on his shoulders was very heavy, and expectations from all around him were impossibly high. He was no doubt well aware that this speech would be broadcast across the world and closely analyzed by supporters, opponents, and other observers, and he very probably had a team of advisors and coaches helping him to get the content and tone just right, trying to meet as many conflicting expectations as possible, without antagonizing rivals or causing alarm. The documentary is historically accurate and generally fair. There is a lot of room for error, but Jennings is careful to present a balanced perspective.

Religion clearly plays a dramatic role in the Middle East. The truth is that nationalism also plays a huge role. The conflict has a long and bloody history and many people have tried and failed to solve it before. Nothing new has happened in the last few years to make it any easier to solve. In fact, some things have gotten quite a bit worse. There is little visionary leadership available on either side. As things stand now, it is unlikely this conflict will be resolved. The two sides are intractably opposed to one other. Furthermore, the Arab world is poorly developed...
