It usually tends to feel that you are temporarily homeless. Although we may be fascinated by the fact there is a lot of adventure, the thinking of how to deal with all your furniture, and other household items may be really demoralizing. We usually have the alternative of moving with them or selling them to the pawnshops at off course a low price. However, not all of us have to move with their property. Some of us live with our relatives and we can always come back home when we want. In this case, we just carry what is essential for our movement and leave the rest behind. Despite the fact that we can avoid the hustle of moving with our property, movement is still not an easy thing. We leave friends, relatives, loved ones and neighbors for a completely strange place with no friends. We go and begin a new life, make new friends and meet new neighbors. This is not an easy thing since very few of us love change. This paper investigates the all the issues involved in moving from one city or town to another. Plan the movement Planning is said to be thinking about the future in the present. Just like in any other activity, one needs to plan about the movement in advance. This enables you to know exactly what you are going to do and at what time. If we want to reduce the complications of moving to new city, we need to be sure at what time we want to leave, which travelling means to use, our next destination and the like. This may force us to make prior arrangements before the real day just to reduce the unforeseen uncertainties. For instance, you need to book for a ticket with your preferred travel agency. If you prefer private means, it is wise to service your car to avoid break downs during the journey. This may also call for the need of a map. The rout should be clearly marked and understood noting the major features you expect on your way. You may also need to make several calls and check for the most appropriate accommodation in your next destination and even make a booking. This may be a temporary accommodation as we find a residential place where we can live more permanently. Planning gives us a clear overview of our activities during the movement. We are able to select the most economical way to travel and survive before we settle in the new town. This avoids the problem of paying too much for services we could get at reasonable prices due to lack of information regarding the new city. Free times during the movement and settling could also be planned for to avoid a great deal of boredom. One may visit the local sites and museums and learn much about the new place. Calculate the cost This is very important and should be part of the planning. One needs to be sure that he has enough to cater for all his expenses during the movement and after they settle. For those looking for employment, they will not like to find out that they cannot pay for their bills any more even before they sit for any interview. In this case, it is even better to get the job first before making a permanent movement. Get a local phone number For people seeking employment, this is very vital as employers would prefer employees with a local physical address and phone numbers, Schmidt, D. (2010). It is important to obtain them no matter whether one will have to use a friend’s physical address. You can contact your network provider for a new local phone number. The movement This becomes very easy when you stick to your to plan. It is important to avoid missing flights and making last minute changes as this may cost us dearly. We will not also want to deviate much from our budgets. We also need to take care of our entire luggage to avoid losing it in transit. Travelling can be fun and adventurous if well planned even for those who do not like it. One may consider buying a few magazines to keep themselves busy during the journey. We may also opt for the routs that we never used before just for adventure. One needs to know what they like and use it to make their journey interesting. Find a place to live After safely arriving at your destination, it is necessary to get a long rest before indulging in any activities however urgent they are to avoid overworking yourself. After you have spend a considerable time resting, it is important to search for a more permanent place to live in order to help cut down the hotel costs. This could be rental place or a purchased house. Buying property may involve a lot of procedures and details that you may first contemplate renting a house. However, getting a real estate agent is inevitable to advice on the available properties and help in making a decision depending on the amount one want to spend. On the other hand, finding a rental apartment or house may be very easy especially if you gather the following information in advance. Contacts of your previous landlord. If you lived in several places, a maximum of three contacts is enough. A written recommendation by your previous landlord can make things really easy for you. Any credit ratings you may have gotten in the recent past. Your employment details. Although this is not compulsory, it really helps to create trust with your new landlord and it will be easier to obtain the most convenient residence in the town. Socialize Assuming that you have now taken care of the basic needs in your new town, it is good to avoid solitary of living in your house silent and bored. You need to go out and meet people. You can join the local clubs depending with your favorite evening activities, make new friends and be a good neighbor. For some of us this may be very difficult. However, According to Burbach, C. (2011), we can always start by letting people know you are in town through social networks. Meet as many people living around as possible while still careful not to be a victim of kidnapping. Moving to new city can be very interesting as well as horrible. Laying down proper plans for movement will ensure that no unforeseen contingencies will frustrate you. However, we need to be flexible and able to adapt to unavoidable situations like flight delays, unexpected bad weather conditions among others. The Experience of Moving and its effects Moving to a new place may force us to adapt to the changes of the environment and culture. Although cultural differences may not be that exaggerated, there are always some differences in the way of life. We should not take long to adapt to this way of life and move on. We also need to keep our careers moving. The fact that you are now living in a strange place may make you feel unsecure. This can be very discouraging especially to those seeking employment putting into account that their previous network of friends and clientele may have been left behind. Moving with your family is also associated with its challenges. Children may be negatively affected by the movement making them drop drastically in their academic performances. This may be coupled with depression as well as pressure to use drugs due to involvement with the bad company. Molestation and intimidation from fellow children can worsen this situation. The worst of the situation may arise where the real cause of the movement traumatized the children. For example, if you move due to a divorce, family separation, war or loss of home due to accidents. Young kids are also very prone to confusion in the development of their communication skills. Where they find a different language or even dialect, this may slow down their learning and ability communicate. References Burbach, C. (2011). How to Make Friends in a New City.
