No: Global Warming Introduction Earth’s temperature is rising day by day and this risein temperature of earth’s atmosphere is the outcome of global warming. Every region of the world will have to face the effects of global warming. This world issue has started showing its initial impact in many shapes. Human activities are the major cause of global warming. Effect of global warming on the agriculture of different countries is one of the most crucial problems related to global warming. It is quite clear that agricultural countries will suffer more than industrial countries in this context because global warming will hit agriculture and not industry. Temperature has gone up to an extent where it can have more damaging effects on agriculture than beneficial ones. Climate change is a global issue but can be noticed in United States of America as well and this warming of temperature causes the crops to develop earlier giving less output, which can be witnessed in many parts of US. The analysts have assumed 5 % temperature rise in next 30 to 50 years due to carbon emission in America. America will have to face a decline of 15 to 30 billion dollars in agricultural output by year 2080. Carbon fertilization may reduce the effects of global warning on agriculture but the percentage will be very minimal. Further advantages and disadvantages related to oceans and forest are also covered below. Global warming in reference to Agriculture Agriculture is a major affected area of global warming and administrations of countries are busy in finding a solution to this problem. Out of many problems resulted from global warming the most important are its effects on agricultural productions. It is quite clear that agricultural countries will suffer more than industrial countries in this context because global warming will hit agriculture and not industry. Wealthier countries will face more effects than developing countries due to their locations. Temperature has gone up to an extent where it can have more damaging effects on agriculture than beneficial ones (Cline 2008). Agriculture can be affected in many ways because of global warming. Climate changes and carbon emissions result in increase of global warming ad then agriculture is affected by the global warming. If temperature rises beyond a certain degree than this climatic change results in passage of crops faster through the developing stages. Crops are ready for cultivation before time but with reduced output. Higher temperature contains less humidity and less moisture for plants in hot weather. Global warming is going to affect the over agricultural output by year 2080. Reduction of 16% in total output without using carbon fertilizers and if effective fertilizers are used than the reduction n output remains 13%. But actual loss is difficult to measure as it depends on the weather and temperature and how effectively it causes damage to crops (Cline 2008). Effects of Global Warming on Agriculture Rising temperature and effects of global warming will result in decreasing output. Absence of moisture and crossing of crop’s development stages faster than usual will make crops ready before the time but the quantity of grain will be affected. Increased temperature may cause availability of less moisture in the soil and in the air as well. This climatic change is harmful for crops because growth is also dependent on moisture for preparation of food. This factor may disturb the quality and quantity of crops in hot regions of the world (McBroom 2001). Countries lying in the hot region with agricultural areas dependent on rainfall may not get required water for irrigation. This will also result in less agricultural production (McBroom 2001). Source: http://ecosystems.wcp.muohio.edu/studentresearch/climatechange02/agriculture/agroproject.html Effects of Global Warming on Agriculture in United States Effects of global warming on US agriculture output are much more than the assumed effects. Charts and graphs can not exactly tell what may happen in real in future. According to analysis of agricultural experts of Barkley University, it is difficult to say that US agriculture will be benefited if there is rise in global temperature. The analysts have assumed 5 % temperature rise in next 30 to 50 years due to carbon emission in America. This assumption is just based on certain assumptions and real situation may cause more alarming situation than expectations. America will have to face a decline of 15 to 30 billion dollars in agricultural output by the end of year 2080. People have guessed this possible impact of global warming on American agriculture sector and are putting in different efforts to find solution (McBroom 2001). Government and media is discouraging carbon dioxide emission in the atmosphere. Special emphasize is being laid on control the pollution through cars. People also expect benefits of global warming and effects on agriculture sector. But analysts have given clear logics of damaging effects of global warming on agriculture sector (McBroom 2001). American eastern and western areas are largely dependent on rainfall due to absence of irrigation system for provision of water to crops. Now the climatic change may change the quantity of rainfall and change the area into a barren land. Global warming is definitely a challenge for Americans as hot weather will cause income loss and downfall in the production of crops (McBroom 2001). Advantages and Disadvantages of Global Warming on Agriculture in the United States Changes to climate and rise in temperature can lead to reduction in agricultural productivity in United States. Agricultural areas dependent on rainfall for water will be badly hit by global warming. Low productivity will cause low income and shortage of food in US. This crop shortage will lead to starvation and shortage of water in America. Earlier blooming of plants will raise the number of asthma patients in America. Increased disease, huger and high rate of death due to extreme heat waves are the after effects of global warming on crops in America (Rosenberg 2010). Source: http://solar-center.stanford.edu/sun-on-earth/glob-warm.html There will be major shift of people from low productivity areas to high productivity areas and industrial centers in search of job, accommodation and food. Earlier drying of forest in America can lead to fast elimination of forests through forest fires. Forest fires will cause rapid rise in temperature which will further damage life and vegetation in surrounding areas (Rosenberg 2010). Frozen parts of arctic and other regions may be used for agricultural activity n near future which will be beneficial for the people. In such local areas the growing season of crops is expected to be longer than the hot regions. Longer growing seasons will also show rise in agriculture output and more grains can be produced (Rosenberg 2010). Low lying areas will be of no usage due to effects of global warming so their will be no land disputes among the different states. Ocean circulation may be disrupted after rising global warming. High sea levels are a threat for low lying areas as flooding of such areas in future. This changing world climate is expected to cause floods and hurricanes in American coastal areas. United States as a developed country will be affected less as compared to developing countries (Rosenberg 2010). America and other developed nations must find ways to tackle this alarming issue as soon as possible before it starts affecting the agricultural ones more effectively. Effective measures should be taken to control the problem in order to secure the world from the aftereffects of global warming. Works Cited Cline, William R. Global Warming and Agriculture.
