In this case, the wildfires should be allowed to burn especially when it is started by natural means that include lighting. The wildfires that are ignited naturally can be well managed in the effort to serve different objectives. It means that when the fire is an essential part of the ecosystem, then it can be managed to achieve the resource benefits of the tolerable impacts on the landscape. Since these objectives can change depending on the movement of the fire through the different landscapes, the natural fires can only be allowed and managed up to the point where they are thought to be necessary. Subsequently, they can be put out depending on the level of damage that they are likely to cause (Cheng & Guo 275).
On the other hand, it should be treated a little bit differently when it is started accidentally. This is because; one of the considerations that will be made is the nature of the forest area that has been attacked by the fire. The kind of trees in the area as well as the neighborhood has to be put into consideration. However, similarly to the naturally occurring wildfires, the accidentally occurring wildfires should be managed depending on the extent of damage that they are likely to cause. They should also be managed to burn within limits that can be considered to be tolerable (Omi 20).
It can be said that the prescribed fires are not worth the expenses and the smoke involved. According to Bytnerowicz (535), they are quite expensive and produce a kind of smoke that is harmful to the surrounding and neighboring. As such, it may not be advisable to set up the intentional fires. Instead, it may be appropriate to reduce the number of trees as well as help to spread the species that depend on fires through ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
