Can a machine have a conscience? In the artificial intelligence field, artificial consciousness or rather machine consciousness is aimed at defining whether machines have the right conscience. The debate over artificial consciousness plausibility has been ongoing. In most cases, theorists always hold skeptical views regarding the conscience of machines (Hall, 38). In fact, they claim that conscience in machines can only be achieved in specific physical systems since consciousness has properties, which necessarily depend on machines physical constitution.
Despite the current technological changes and the ability to stimulate autonomy, consciousness in machines is still difficult to attain. Computers have failed to exhibit creativity, free will or emotions. Most machines operate by their components. Therefore, machines have zero consciousness. Despite the argument that computers, for example, have the ability of performing computation roles and are sufficient in possessing conscious mind, computers have no conscience. It is quite evident that computations have the ability of capturing other systems causal organizations. However, computers have no mental properties within them. In most cases, machines operate under instructions (Hall, 45). Running the right computations kinds does not instantiate mental properties in the computers. There is more to mental properties and consciousness than simply operating a computer.
There are various consciousness aspects, which are deemed necessary for anything to be artificially conscious. Such aspects are not available in machines. However, with technological progress in the future, the possibility of machine conscience is still open. This will, however, require aspects such as awareness, learning and anticipation. In this case, anticipation would mean that the computers have the predicting ability something, which makes the whole, process difficult.

Barbeque machine

...?DESIGNING A PORTABLE ROUND GRILL BARBECUE Introduction A portable round grill barbecue machine is a simple charcoal grill made of around bottom handle held casing, a rack, and a handle held portable mesh, a round top cover, and a stainless steel barbecue tool set. The casing can be designed with rollers to enable easy mobility of the barbecue machine. The food to be roasted is placed on the mesh, the top lid covered, and the food allowed to cook for some time. Constrains to be taken into account in design model include cost, ease of operation, portability, amount of energy used, efficiency and space occupy by the barbecue machine. The cost of designing the barbeque grill is reduced by using a hybrid strategy that will leverage...

Virtual Machine

... users the illusion of having an entire computer. Another advantage is that booting and restarting a virtual machine can be much faster than with a physical machine, since it may be possible to skip tasks such as hardware initialization. Virtual machine allows for testing OS's and requires less hardware. No need to get compatible drivers as all hardware is virtualized and no cross contamination. It allows user for legacy applications that require a special setup for operating system. User can use expensive hardware to its full potential and can run much number of servers on it. Virtual servers are easy to transfer from one server to another server. It is not restricted to hardware manufacturers (Sun, IBM, Apple etc). VMWare allows for zero...

Conscience or the Competitive Edge

From this paper it is clear that a company such as Nike can run into a variety of problems when it decides to outsource, like what it wants to consider or prioritize when moving certain operations overseas.  First of all, many companies grossly underestimate the time, money, and people that it takes to successfully outsource a portion or all of their operations.  In choosing a location, companies must consider which locations have the cheaper labor prices if they are going to save money by outsourcing in the first place.  Choosing an area with a high standard of living will end up costing the company way more than what it is worth.
This essay discusses that there is a tremendously big step that is often ov...

State Machine

... Machine Introduction: machine is a device in which the output depends in some systematic way on variables other than the immediate inputs to the device. These other variables are called the state variables for the machine, and depend on the history of the machine. The behavior of a state machine can be completely described by a state table or equivalently by a state diagram. State machines can be used to specify the behaviors of objects in a system by describing the relationships between the states of the object and its ability to respond to events presented to it. Suitable choice of semantics for state machines allows multiple machines to be composed in the description of a single object. State diagram can be used to graphically...

It is additionally responsible for moving the institution to awarding two of my models at a keynote address. Machine deliverables included a clickable model, a design description article, and a research outline. Detailed data and a research summary for the scenario machine and its prototype were provided and made confidential (Proctor & Kim-Phuong 327).
Functionality in the high fidelity prototype for my scenarios was closely affiliated with the form of the design by-products. This affiliation will be impartially simple to find out if it has the opportunity of operating as an actual commodi...

Definition of Conscience

.... It is said to witness the work and image of God through people. An individual who does well to the people around him especially the members of the church, God is observed to have a positive outlook on the person’s character. Moreover, conscience serves as a witness to God in that He can see the morals of people who claim to serve Him and judge through their conscience. A clear conscience portrays ones obedience to the Biblical teachings to God and other people. In addition, conscience aims to help people conduct an assessment on their own. All the values of people are said to be incorporated in ones conscience. Both wrongs and rights are determined by the conscience of a person and their actions and utterances occur in view...

Human Law and Conscience

This research will begin with the statement that conscience can be regarded as a set of moral convictions arising from traditional and spiritual beliefs, which is invoked and defined by the individual himself. Unlike the structural Human Laws, which includes both the civil laws and ecclesiastical laws, conscience is a subjective concept that holds the possibility of implicating total sovereignty over these human laws. Most importantly, the value of human conscience has a direct influence on the individual’s expression of denial or compliance with the human laws. However, the conflict between this individual conscience and human laws is inevitable. Exercising one’s own conscience by involving or refusing to the gover...

Machine-to-Machine Communication

...Machine-to-Machine Communication Disruptive technology is basically a replacement of an old technology by an innovation that creates new market value for products or services. Adoption of disruptive technology can be either risky or profitable venture. By using a technology in its early stage can enable one to establish new markets but can also become vulnerable to unforeseen risks. The key lies in choosing the correct time to enter the market (Evans, 10). Disruptive technology can change the structure of an industry by replacing traditional values with new values. It can encourage corporate planners to embark in new avenues for their organizations (Evans, 8). RFID One example of disruptive technology is the next revolution in machine...

Conscience clauses

Conscience Clause Affiliation Conscience Clause Conscience clauses are ized clauses linked to statutes in some parts of the United States, that allow physicians, pharmacists and other healthcare providers not to deliver some medical services for reasons of conscience or religion. Can Machine Have a Conscience

...Yang Yang ENGL-1213-01 Gantz 10 Oct Can Machine have a Conscience? Today’s world is filled with science and technology. Each and every daypeople see and hear news about breakthroughs in the world of IT, robotics and nanotechnology. Integrating this with science-fiction, people pose a serious question as to whether machines can ever have a conscience; this is basically whether computers can discern between right or wrong like humans. Most philosophers argue nearly all human actions arise from motive, desire or impulse (Danielson 540). From this, one can see that if one the right or the good behavior, it is due to the fact they desire to do them. Maybe the urge is, at times, nothing more than the pressures or influences of past parental...
