It would increase creativities, innovations and entrepreneurialism for the students. 2 A SHORT HISTORY OF HIGHER EDUCATION There was no trend of college in United State of America in the early history of higher education. The first college which was founded was Harvard in 1636. Harvard was developed to teach few students who had the intension to control ministers and official work in future and also to maintain their religious perspective. Before Revolutionary War only 9 colleges were founded in U.S but after Revolutionary War many schools were extended to colleges with variety of disciplines like chemistry, law, engineering, finance and arithmetic. As the country prospers, the number of colleges increased. First PhD was awarded in Yale in 1861. Later, John Hopkins University was founded in 1876. Over 1800s, there were a huge number of colleges founded in America. A big reason behind was a Morrill Act of 1862, according to which a 30,000 acres land was provided for the college, research institution and universities . In 1900s, the network of colleges spread all around the America. After the World War 2, many refugees went to colleges and seek education of different fields. The number of colleges were almost doubled 1,851 to 3,535 so, It was called golden age of American colleges and Universities. In twenty-First century, the revolution had come because of internet. It provided a new way of education because it was computer telecommunication technology in the delivery of higher education system. From the start till now, America played a great role in providing valuable and knowledgeable education through an increase in wide spread of colleges across the country.
